To Glorify the Lord Jesus

“The God of our fathers hath glorified His Son Jesus." -Acts 3:13 [KJV] See, my soul, how every part and portion of scripture is directed to this one subject—to glorify the Lord Jesus. What is the very design of redemption but to glorify the Lord Jesus? What hath God constituted a church for, but to glorify the Lord Jesus? To what do all the precepts, promises, ordinances, sacrifices under the law, and institutions under the Gospel, minister, but to this one end — to glorify the Lord Jesus?    Talk they of promises? Why, all the promises of God are "in Christ Jesus, yea and amen, to the glory of God the Father by us." Talk they of the law? "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Talk they of commandments? “This is the commandment, that ye believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God; and that believing, ye might have life through His name." —preacher Robert Hawker

The Blood of JESUS Christ Cleanses Us from ALL SIN

"The means by which sin is said to be covered, is not reformation, or good works, but blood, vicarous satisfaction." -preacher Charles Hodge , vol.2, p.478

LOOKING TO CHRIST JESUS

" The apostles said unto the LORD, Increase our faith." -Luke 17:5 [KJV] Natural men tauntingly say, “O! you don’t mind good works; faith is to do every thing for you.” Truly, faith is all; for it includes the object of faith—the Lord. For, indeed, faith has no existence without its object.  Consider, (1st.) is it not a good work to forgive an offending brother? This is what our Lord here teaches. The apostles were made truly sensible, that they could not do this without faith; nay, not without the increase of faith. Therefore, they prayed for it. Real believers are created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained, that they should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10.) They are a peculiar people, zealous of good works (Titus 2:14.) Thus, they love to glorify their heavenly Father.  (2d.) They know that all good works proceed from faith, and from the increase of faith. For Christ dwells in our hearts by faith (Ephesians 3:17.) This is the source...

The Wednesday Word ~ 04 September, 2024 A.D.

Jesus is Omnipresent   by DG Miles McKee We have seen on previous emails of this mini-series seen that God is omnipotent.  That means He is all powerful. In other words, God does whatever He pleases when He pleases (see Psalms 115:3; Isaiah 55:11 and Jeremiah 32:17). Nothing is too difficult for Him (Genesis 18:14). He also is Omniscient, that means He knows all things!  He is furthermore Omnipresent. Omnipresence simply means  He´s here, there and everywhere all at the same time.    Consider again Revelation 5:6. There we see  “----a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”   Observe how in this verse, the once slain Lamb has  “seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”   These seven Spirits sent forth are once more a declaration of Christ’s Omnipresence and thus a declaration of His deity!Omnipresence is...

Ecouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 04 September, 2024 A.D.

" Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man who layeth hold on it." -Isaiah 56:2 [KJV] Many poor blind sinners we meet with, who are saying, Do not puzzle me with your points of doctrine. This is my religion, ‘I do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God.’ There is scarcely a text in the whole Bible so often quoted, and so frequently hackneyed by ignorant men, to keep up their vain hopes and self-righteous confidence, as this of Micah (6:8.) As a striking instance of their walking humbly with God, they reject the glorious gospel of His grace, set at nought the atonement and righteousness of His Son, ridicule the inspiration of His Spirit, and walk in the pride of their hearts, fulfilling the lusts of their flesh. They are cursed by the mouth of the Lord. But here is the only blessed man described by Him.  (1st.) In his doing. What? Justice? He has a sincere regard to every thing which is moral, just, and good. Without this, know, ye profess...

EXCEEDING GREAT & PRECIOUS PROMISES

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. " -II Peter 1:4 [KJV] Nothing will yield richer consolation to our own souls, than to:   take the Word of God,   cull out of it every promise  which it contains,   carry them to the throne of grace,   and plead them before God. Pardon for every sin,    peace with God,       holiness of life,          and eternal glory --are all secured to every genuine believer, by the priceless promises of our gracious , immutable  and omnipotent  God.   Yet it is simply impossible to fully comprehend the worth of God's inestimable promises in this life. Who shall fathom the value of deliverance from the torments which are endured by those who are now cast into the lake of fire and brimstone? Or who shall fo...
