Christ Saves Sinners!

"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation ." -Revelation 12:10 [KJV] "Salvation." What "salvation?" Salvation by grace, full and free; salvation without any intermixture of creature righteousness; salvation gushing from the bosom of God; salvation flowing wholly and solely through the blood of the Lamb. But salvation can never be tasted without a previous foretaste of condemnation. Heaven can never be looked up into before there has been a looking down into the wicket-gate of hell. There must have been an experience of guilt, before there can be the enjoyment of pardon. "Now is come salvation." From what? From the accusations of Satan, the curses of the law, the fear of death, the terrors of hell, and sentence of damnation. And how does salvation come? Whilst the battle is going on, whilst the issue is doubtful, whilst hand to hand, foot to foot, and shoulder to shoulder, Satan and the soul are engaged in de...

A man sent from God

"There was a man sent from God, whose name was John."   -John 1: 6 John the Baptist was not a seminary-trained preacher; he had no formal education. He was not instructed in the schools of higher learning approved by the religious hierarchy of his day. He did not seek after nor did he have the backing of the ecclesiastical authorities. He did not minister in a synagogue and he was not invited to preach within the temple walls of Jerusalem. If you wanted to hear God’s man proclaim God’s message you had to go out to the wilderness to listen to him. He refused to be identified with the leadership of Judaism, and the first time some of the Pharisees and Sadducees came to hear him preach and see him baptize, he used that opportunity to denounce those men who believed and taught salvation by works as being "a generation of vipers" (Matthew 3:7) . His message was, "Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1:29) . Had...

In Christ I'm Restored

‘ Tis written in the Word of God That all are full of sin; That due to Adam’s guilt and fall, No soundness is within. Faced with my shame and seeking peace, To Sinai’s mount I fled; But in the law no peace I found, It filled my heart with dread. And then I heard that Jesus came, Poor sinful souls to save; To satisfy God’s holy law, His life He freely gave. Glad tidings this, that God in Christ The vilest will receive; Eternal life is given those Who on the Son believe. Since God the Spirit gave me faith, I trust on Christ the Lord; ‘Tis by His blood and righteousness, To God I am restored.
