The Wednesday Word ~ 11 December, 2024 A.D.

Who Exactly is the First and the Last?    Part II by D. G. Miles McKee   Last time we observed that Spurgeon said, “ Depend upon it, my hearer, you never will go to heaven unless you are prepared to worship Jesus Christ as God.”  That´s a powerful truth.  Jesus is the Alpha and Omega the first and last of salvation.  For salvation, there is nothing required outside of Jesus. Not only does the word Alpha stand for the first letter in the Greek Alphabet, but Spurgeon tells us that the word Alpha was also frequently used to signify that which was the best.  It was used much the same way as we today use the term ‘Grade A.’  Give Jesus any title you like and He’s the alpha, He`s the best. He´s grade A. Christ Jesus is the Alpha Prophet, the Alpha priest, and the Alpha King! He´s the Alpha Prophet . Compared to Christ, all other prophets pale by comparison. No man ever spoke like Him or ever will again (John 7:46). He´s the Alpha Priest . He...

Thought for the Day ~ 11 December, 2024 A.D.

" God's sovereignty is exercised without obligation. Obligation is binding, and it destroys liberty in the sense of independence. Since God is totally independent, He is not obligated to do anything other than what He purposed before the foundation of the world.  For this reason, God does not give the things people request unless what they request is according to His will. It is one thing to be pleased to fulfill an obligation and something else to do something from the pleasure of one's own will. God has the right to do what He will with His own ( see Matthew 20:15 )." -W. E. Best , excerpt from 'God's Sovereignty is Absolute Arbitrariness'

The Glory of the LORD JESUS, Full of Grace & Truth to poor sinners

" And the L ORD spoke unto Moses, face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend." -Exodus 33:11 [KJV] In the opinion of infidels, Moses is as vile a hypocrite, and as great an enthusiast as ever existed. You see your calling, brethren. What shall be done unto the men, whom the King of saints delighteth to honour? Treat them as the filth and offscouring of all things, say the world. Thank you, ye sons of folly. You give us an evident token of our salvation, and that of God (Philippians 1:28.)  If Moses is not to be credited, Christ is to be rejected. He puts His cause upon the testimony of Moses. “Had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed Me, for he wrote of Me” (John 5:46.) He was a friend of the Bridegroom. He was admitted to close and intimate converse with Him, before He appeared in flesh. Our Saviour saith to all His disciples, “ye are My friends , ” (John 15:14.) He admits them into sweet fellowship, and free communion with Himself. A precious mi...

Flee to Christ JESUS Immediately! He Only is our Eternal Rest

"Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28 [KJV] When we rest, we find relief to our weary limbs. So spiritually. When the soul comes to Jesus, He gives it rest and relief from its burdens; as well as deliverance from anxiety, and cessation from the labour that distresses and distracts it. He promises to give this— "Come unto Me, and I" —who else can do it? None, either in heaven or earth— "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." How? By communicating to the soul out of His infinite fulness, by sprinkling upon the conscience His atoning blood, by shedding abroad in the heart His dying love, and enabling the soul to believe on His name, and cling to His Person. In this there is rest—nothing else will do it—nothing else will give it. Other remedies will leave us at last under the wrath of God. But he that comes to and leans upon Jesus, His finished wo...

Christ JESUS Sticks Closer Than a Brother

"If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates, in thy land which the L ORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother; but thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth." -Deuteronomy 15:7, 8 [KJV] How is it possible, dearest Lord Jesus, that I can read this scripture, and call to mind Thy obedience for me, in fulfilling the whole law, without connecting with it all the blessedness of looking up to Thee under every circumstance, and in every case, for Thy favour and Thy love? When Jesus became circumcised for His people, He made Himself a debtor to the whole law. And is not this delightful precept of my evening meditation a part of it? Surely, Lord, this precept speaks to Thee. Not that my glorious Surety needed a command to the love of any of His poor brethren; for, blessed Jesus, Thy love brought T...
