I WILL HEAL THEIR BACKSLIDINGS!

"If we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."  - Hebrews 10:26, 27 [KJV] Awful words! enough to make one’s heart tremble, excite a holy fear, and provoke a godly jealousy. Wilful sin brings on woeful complaints. Yes, says a soul, I find it so by dreadful experience. I have received the knowledge of the truth of salvation by Christ Jesus, and O what have I done! Sinned wilfully, and now I must be punished eternally. There is no hope nor help. My sin is unpardonable. There remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain, fearful looking for of destruction. I am shut up in despair. I wait with terror my dreadful doom.  Stop a little. Write not  such bitter things against thyself. True, thou art condemned for thy past wicked conduct. It is proper you should take shame to yourse...

The Love of God to Saved Sinners

"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us."   -I John 4:16 [KJV] Who hath known, and believed, in terms equal to the greatness of the mercy itself, the love of God to the poor sinner! God's love must be an infinite love, and consequently the display of it must be infinite also. God, we are told, "Commendeth His love to us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  Had God loved and delighted in saints that loved Him, this would have been love. Had God taken the holy angels into a nearer acquaintance with Him, this would have been love. But when He raised beggars from the dunghill, and took rebels from the prison to sit upon His throne, and at a time when His justice would have been magnified in their destruction; to prefer sinners, haters of God, and despisers of His grace; to bring them into the closest and nearest connection with Him, in the person of His dear Son; and all this by such a wonderful plan of mercy, as...

A Twofold Inheritance!

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things." -Revelation 21:7 [KJV] "He shall inherit all things."  When? In eternity? Yes. But only in eternity? O no! In time also. There is a twofold inheritance, though one and the same; one in time, another in eternity; one the firstfruits, the other the harvest; one the earnest, the other the full sum. There is an inheriting here below, and an inheriting above; and he that never receives any portion of his inheritance below will never receive an inheritance above. Now, just in proportion as we overcome, are we put in possession of this inheritance. What are we to inherit? Riches, glory, honour, power, praise? These are worldly things; let the world enjoy them. In inheriting "all things,"  we are to inherit the things of God; the favour of God, the love of God, the mercy of God, the glory of God; all that a covenant God gives in giving Himself; peace here, glory hereafter; pardon below, salvation above; ...
