The Loudly Proclaimed Miracle of the Gospel

"The miracle announced by the Gospel is that God comes to the ungodly with a mercy that is righteous, and in spite of all their depravity and rebellion, enables them through faith ( on the ground of Christ’s righteousness ) to enter into a new and blessed relation with Himself." -unknown preacher of righteousness

Flee to Christ JESUS Today ~ URGENT

Heads-Up --- Please find enclosed encouragement in "SO GREAT SALVATION" by the perfect and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy and wretched sinners by His sovereign free grace - God's unmerited favor - from their sins and from Hell: It would be good for all to think about that man Noah in the light of present religious thinking.  Noah was a man who wasn’t seeking God but God in grace found him and made him the object of His grace in Christ!  His faith was the evidence of God’s grace to and in him not the cause of it (see Hebrews 11 & Genesis 6:8) .  His preaching was about righteousness not about morality, politics or life lessons.  Being a “preacher of righteousness , ” he was the only true gospel preacher on earth at the time.  He preached a hundred and twenty years and didn’t have a convert outside of his own family.  His was the only church on earth but there were only eight members.  He was a man of on...

IN THE LORD's HAND!

"No man is able to pluck them  out of My Father’s hand" (John 10:29). Think, my soul, how eternally safe and secure must the church of Jesus be, thus kept by the mighty power of God, through faith, unto salvation! What shall unclasp the hands of Jehovah? Who shall wrest the weakest, the humblest, the poorest of Christ’s little ones from the holding of His omnipotency? Why then art thou, my soul, so frequently exercised with fears, and doubts, and misgivings? It is the Lord’s love that is the foundation of thy assurance, and not the strength of thy graces! His own free mercy, and not thy merit were the first causes of thy calling; and what is it now, in thy present preservation, but the same which holds thee up and carries thee through every difficulty?     "Yea, He loved the people; all His saints are in Thy hands" (Deuteronomy 33:3) . Precious Lord Jesus! It is enough. How shall a child of Thine perish when secured by such almighty support? Oh to hear ...

Faith Makes a Bridge Over the River of Death

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee." -Psalm 56:3 [KJV] A Christian’s fears commence with his joys. Being new-born, he is the subject of new joys and new fears also: and, glory to grace! he has a new object too to trust in—a covenant God in Christ, who is unchangeable in His love. Confidence in Him is the sovereign antidote against dejecting fears. Fears, that the world know not of, beset holy saints. (1st.) They find and feel their hearts to be superlatively deceitful, and desperately wicked. They dread their corruptions, more than all the men on earth, or devils in hell: they are afraid lest some vile lust, cursed corruption or devilish temptation should prevail, so as to offend their Lord, wound their conscience, and bring a reproach upon that holy name, whereby they are called. This is a godly fear; it can do the soul no harm: it is for its good: it keeps it humble and self-diffident, and causes it to say, “I will trust in Thee.”  Do,  saith the Sa...

The Great Day of God

"He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe." -II Thessalonians 1:10 [KJV] Among a thousand wonders that will be unfolded before the astonished world, at the great day of God, to call up the unceasing praises of the church of Christ to all eternity, there are two very blessed events which will take place, and which this scripture records; the one is, how Jesus will be glorified in His own sacred person, in the view of His redeemed, when all His beauties are then displayed; and the other is, how Jesus will be glorified in them, from the saving change which His grace hath wrought in them. Let thine evening meditation, my soul, be upon both. And first, think how Jesus, thy Jesus, will then appear. He hath indeed been always known to thee, since He was first revealed to thee by grace, as wonderful; and every act of His towards thee, hath fully answered to this name. For in all His perfections, offices, characters, and rel...

THIS ETERNAL INHERITANCE

"An inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away."   -I Peter 1:4 [KJV] Whatever you may have in this world, be it much or little, you must leave. And if you have no other inheritance than earth gives, where will be your portion in death and to all eternity? But if you are begotten again unto a lively hope, even if you do not enjoy the full assurance of faith, you have before you an inheritance which fadeth not away. We fancy sometimes how happy we should be if we had this man's fine estate, or that man's large property; how much better we should spend it than he does, and what good we should do with it. And do you think that these men are happy with all their possessions, and that you would be happier or better if you had them? It is not in nature to be happy. These rich men have a canker which eats up all their happiness. And even if free from the heavier troubles of life, all satisfaction of the flesh fadeth away, for possession of itself rubs...
