There is But One Savior

THERE IS BUT ONE SAVIOR   If you look to your repentance and faith for acceptance with God, you will die in your sins.  I hope that statement grabs your attention.  Men tend to run to repentance or faith as the foundation and assurance for their salvation, instead of fleeing to Christ Himself .  They look to what they have done, felt and experienced, rather than looking to the Lord of glory.   This is a fatal mistake.  To be sure, I would never minimize the importance of true repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  How merciful of the Lord that He grants us repentance to turn from our idols and dead works and gives us faith to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ as our Prophet, Priest and King.   Still, neither repentance nor faith are saviors.  There is but ONE SAVIOR from sin and His name is Jesus Christ.   He is the only Mediator between a holy God and sinful men.  He Alone bore the sins ...

Honoring JEHOVAH in spirit & in truth...

“Is there a God, beside Me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any” (Isaiah 44:8) .  He is the eternal, the self-existent, the omniscient, the omnipresent Being.  If I paused for one moment over this statement, I trust it will be successful in drawing our spirits to regard the glory of the Being we are met to worship.   He is the eternal God – “From everlasting to everlasting Thou art God” – omniscient, pervading everything on earth, and penetrating the recesses of every heart – omnipresent, about our path and about our bed, about our lying down and our rising up; owing His being to none and all beings owing their existence to Him.  Giving an account of none of His matters, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders; doing whatsoever seemeth to Him good in the armies of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; none can stay His hand or say, What doest Thou?             ...

JESUS BORE THE WRATH OF GOD

How blest are those whose sin and guilt Are fully washed away; They need not fear the wrath of God,   When comes the Judgment Day.   Vindictive justice fell on Christ, Who for the guilty died; And by His bloody sacrifice, Poor souls were justified.   ‘Tis with the death of Christ the Lord, That God is satisfied; The Savior magnified the law, When on the cross He died.   Since Jesus bore their load of guilt, Upon the rugged tree; The ransomed of the Lord are safe For all eternity.   How can we know that Jesus died, And suffered in our place? ‘Tis in this way, if we by faith, The Son of God embrace.

DAILY LOOKING TO CHRIST JESUS

" Perfecting holiness in the fear of God." -II Corinthians 7:1 [KJV] Who are thus exhorted? saints in Christ. What for? To labour to get perfect holiness, to obtain the favour of God? No: they are already perfectly justified in His sight, and sanctified to His glory. But some reject this: they legalize the gospel, (if I may so speak) under a specious shew for holiness, as though that was to procure more for us from God, than the blood and righteousness of His dear Son. This is aiming to perfect holiness, in ignorance and unbelief: this eclipses the glory of Christ’s work for us, inverts the order of gospel economy, and brings perplexity and distress upon God’s children. For, this is the glory of the gospel,—that moment a sinner is justified by the faith of Christ, he is sanctified by the Spirit of Christ.  Our title to heaven, and our meetness for glory, come together by the same rich grace: being brought into the sense of God’s favour, we have also suitable dis...

JESUS FINISHED OUR SALVATION ~ Greatly Rejoice

"The Man will not be in rest, until He have finished the thing this day." -Ruth 3:18 [KJV] Behold! my soul, in this scripture history, some sweet features by which the disposition of Jesus's love, and the earnestness in His heart to relieve poor sinners, is strikingly set forth. When a poor sinner is made acquainted with the Lord Jesus, hath heard of His grace, goes forth to glean in His fields; at the ordinances of His house, and under the ministration of His word, lays down at His feet, and prays to be covered with the skirt of His mantle; Jesus not only takes notice of that poor seeking sinner, but gives the poor creature to know, by some sweet and secret whispers of His Holy Spirit, that He is not unacquainted with all that is in his heart. And when such have lain long, and earnestly sought, even through the whole night of doubt and fear, until the morning of grace breaks in upon the soul, yet may they be assured, the God-man, Christ Jesus, will not rest...

Saved by Christ JESUS: No More Strangers...

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God." -Ephesians 2:19 [KJV] If grace has touched your heart; if the love of God has come into your soul, it has placed you among the saints of the Most High, and given you every privilege which God ever did or could give to them. And what are their privileges? To be washed in the atoning blood of the suffering Son of God, to be clothed in the justifying righteousness of His perfect and meritorious obedience, to be consecrated by the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, the Comforter, to have the love of God as their enduring portion, peace in believing, supplies of grace as needed, support and strength as they pass through this vale of tears, comforts abounding in proportion to the abundance of afflictions, Everlasting Arms beneath in death, a mansion of eternal bliss for the soul when the body drops into the grave, and a glorious resurrection of the bo...
