The one-word answer is SIN. “ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). “ Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Romans 5:12). The fact that the body dies is evidence of our sinfulness. -2- Is death the end of our existence? The body is the tabernacle in which the soul resides; we are a soul, and we have a body.
