Go to God's Word ~ Prove All Things!

Do You Want Salvation God’s Way? “Do you believe God saves sinners even when they do not want to be saved?” You may think this is a strange question, but it was recently asked of me. The answer is, NO, but we must go to the Scriptures to understand what goes on in the salvation of a sinner. The Bible teaches that no sinner by nature wants or desires salvation GOD’S WAY – By free, sovereign mercy and grace in and by the Lord Jesus Christ alone!  We read this in passages such as John 6:44 and Romans 3:9-18. These are just a few examples that show us the reality of man’s depravity. Sinful man wants salvation, but he wants it on his own terms, like Cain of old, by works for which he can boast.  When God saves a sinner, does He save that sinner even if that sinner does not want to be saved God’s way? No. When God saves a sinner, God alone, by His power and grace, makes that sinner willing to believe in, rest in, flee to the Lord Jesus Christ for all salvation – all forgivenes

BORN AGAIN

"Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." - John 3:3 [KJV] True religion begins with an entrance into the soul of supernatural light and supernatural life. How or why it comes the soul knows not; for "the wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh or whither it goeth, so is every one that is born of the Spirit." The wind itself is not seen, but its effects are felt. The sound of a going is heard in the tops of the mulberry trees, where God Himself is not seen. The voice of the Lord, powerful and full of majesty, was heard by those who saw no similitude (Deuteronomy 4:12) . Thus effects are felt, though causes are unknown. Streams flow into the heart from a hidden source; rays of light beam into the soul from an unrisen sun; and kindlings of life awake in us a new existence out of an unseen fountain. The  new-born babe feels life in all its limbs, though it knows not yet

Delighting in the Holiness of Thy Lord's Commandments

"And His commandments are not grievous." -I John 5:3 [KJV] Is it so, my soul, that the commandments of thy Lord are not grievous unto thee? Surely it is; for though thou carriest about with thee a body of sin and death, which is everlastingly harassing thee, yet thou canst, and dost say, "I delight in the law of God after the inward man:" yea, in the very moment that thine old unrenewed nature, when evil is present with thee, is tempting thee to break through the hedge of divine precepts, in thy regenerated part thou truly lovest and delightest in the holiness of thy Lord's commandments. And are there not seasons in thine experience, when, in spite of sin, and Satan, and the world, thou canst adopt the language of one of old, and say, "Oh, how I love Thy law; it is my meditation all the day!" And is it not joy to thy heart, and a blessed part of thy faith, that the law of thy God was so pure and so strict, that rather than a jot of it

Distinguished by the Grace of God

" The L ORD gave, and the L ORD hath taken away: blessed be the name of the L ORD ." -Job 1:21 [KJV] Meek Moses, righteous Lot, patient Job, were as wicked by nature as any sinners that ever were born. True, they were eminent saints. But who made them so? The same Saviour, Who sanctifies you and me. Cease ye from man. Look upon the most holy saint, as a sinner in himself, but only distinguished by the grace of God. When any grace eminently shines in any sinner, remember it all comes out of the fulness of the Saviour. So look for grace for yourself. While Job suffers the loss of all, yet he glories in the possession of all. Thought he could not now say, my children, my possessions, my health, etc. yet he could say, “My Redeemer liveth,” (ch. 19:25.)   The belief of this sweetened every cross: made up every loss: kept his head from sinking in the deep waters of affliction: his heart from fainting under the greatest tribulations: and fortified his mind with the
