It Is The LORD God's Work Alone

We believe that the work of regeneration, conversion, sanctification   and faith, is not an act of man’s 'free will' and power, but of the mighty, efficacious and irresistible grace of God. -copied

Righteousness in Christ JESUS Alone

We trust for righteousness in Christ alone. We are accepted in the Beloved; and apart from Him, we look for judgment.   If you have any kind of hope which disturbs, diminishes, or destroys the glory of His grace and righteousness, the sooner you get rid of it, the better!   We must not detract in any degree from the complete glory of Christ in the redemption of His people.   In salvation, as in all things, Christ is All and in all!   -copied

Persecution for Preaching The Gospel of God's Grace

The apostles and the early believers were despised by the religious Jews because of the Gospel which they preached.   It was not because they lived immoral lives, failed to do good works, nor because they were covetous or proud men.   They were persecuted because the Gospel of God’s grace, which they preached, was offensive to human pride. They preached (as I trust we do also) that salvation, even for the most moral person on earth, is only possible because of the grace and mercy of God, given to us in Christ Jesus . These people of God knew nothing of free-will, decisions, and "giving God a chance. "     They knew only one way of salvation, that of God being gracious and showing sovereign mercy to sinners in Christ.   The Gospel of grace and glory does not appear OCCASIONALLY in the preaching and writings, nor was it a deeper truth or doctrine which they discussed PRIVATELY; it reigns, shines, and dominated all that they said, ...

FAITH IN CHRIST - A COMMAND!

Sinners are never invited to come to Christ. They are commanded to come to Christ.   Faith in Christ is not something we are invited to do.   It is a command!   It is not an act of presumption for me to believe, if God has commanded me to.   It is also a great mercy to us for Christ to say, “ He that believeth not shall be damned.”     God commands me to believe on His Son.   I am informed that I will be damned if I do not.   I see clearly that I cannot be saved by my worth, works, or will.   Faith in Christ is not a response to an invitation, nor is it a choice we make.   It is obedience to the command of God because we really have no other alternative . -copied

The Word of God is an Unstoppable Force

Thy works, not mine, O Christ Speak gladness to this heart They tell me all the Word is done They bid my fear depart. Thy cross, not mine, O Christ   Has borne the awful load Of sins that no one else could bear But our incarnate God. Thy death, not mine, O Christ Has paid the ransom due Ten thousand, thousand deaths like mine Would have been all too few. Thy righteousness, O Christ Alone can cover me No righteousness can satisfy Save that which is of Thee!   -Gospel Hymn: “I Love Thy Kingdom”     -------0-------     THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT BOUND   Paul said that because of his preaching of the Gospel, “Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound” (II Timothy 2:9) .   No matter how adverse circumstances may be, the Word of God is never bound.   The Word of God cannot be bound.   “So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it sha...

Accepted in The Beloved!

There was a preacher years ago who loved the gospel in this phrase “accepted in the Beloved” [Ephesians 1:6] . He reminded his congregation of it many times. When he was dying, several men asked him what they should tell the church concerning his condition. He said, “Go and tell them I am accepted in the Beloved.” –preacher Clay Curtis   -------0------- ’Twas on that dark, that doleful night   When powers of earth and hell arose   Against the Son of God’s delight,   And friends betrayed Him to His foes: Before the mournful scene began,   He took the bread, and blessed, and brake:   What love through all His actions ran!   What wondrous words of grace He spake! “This is My body, broke for sin;   Receive and eat the living food:”   Then took the cup, and blessed the wine;   “’Tis the new cov’nant in My blood.” For us His flesh with nails was torn,   He bore the scourge, He felt the thorn;   And justice poured upon His ...

NO VICTORY WITHOUT THE POWER OF GOD

"Praying always with all prayer." - Ephesians 6:18 [KJV]   A person by way of banter, once said to me, “I will treat you with a play, if you will go with me to-night.” I thanked him, and told him, I would accompany him, if I could be sure it would bring more of the love of Christ into my heart . This, this is worth living for, using any means to promote, and going any where to procure. But, here is a weapon, which defends us against all temptations to go to such places, or do such things as are contrary to the peace of our souls, and which tend to damp the love of Christ in our hearts. That soul, who keeps up sweet fellowship with God, at a throne of grace, is dead to sensual gratifications.    The more prayer, the more spiritual life from Christ. The more spiritual life, the more prayer to Christ. Praying. This is the last weapon of our warfare: it will be used by soldiers at the last moment of life . God be merciful to me a sinner : Jesus save or I perish...

Blessed Forever be GOD for JESUS Christ!

"The transgressions of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes ." -Psalm 36:1 [KJV]   How striking is this scripture, and how true! Yes, my soul; thou needest not to look abroad into another's heart to see iniquity; for at home, in thine own, a voice may be heard continually proclaiming it. Renewed as thou art by grace, still thou feelest the workings of corrupt nature: and though, as the apostle said, with thy mind thou thyself servest the law of God, yet with thy flesh the law of sin , see Romans 7:25.   Pause over the solemn subject, and observe the working of a body of sin and death, which is virtually all sin: "the carnal mind, (the apostle saith) is enmity against God , " Romans 8:7; not only an enemy, but in enmity: so that the very nature is so; it is averse, naturally averse to God, and is everlastingly rising in opposition to His holy law. And this not only (as some have supposed, but all men, if ...

The Beauty of the LORD of Life & Glory

"Every one that loveth Him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of Him." -I John 5:1 [KJV]   Where there is love to Jesus, there will be love to those who are His by redemption, His by regeneration, and His by personal possession. The more, too, that we see and the more that we know of the beauty and blessedness of the Lord of life and glory, the more we shall love His image as we behold it visibly marked in His dear people, and the more we shall cleave to them as being Christ's with tender affection.    It is our dim, scanty, and imperfect knowledge of God the Father in His eternal love, and of the Lord Jesus Christ in His grace and glory, which leaves us so often cold, lifeless, and dead in our affections towards Him; and with the declension of love towards the Head comes on decay of love towards His members. If there were more blessed revelations to our soul of the Person and work, grace and glory, beauty and blessedness of the Lord Jesus Christ, i...
