Why the Blessed Bless Their Blesser

Paul the apostle enumerates some of the spiritual blessings of God the Father to His people in Ephesians 1:3-14. These include: 1. Election to Salvation (v. 4) ; 2. Predestination to sonship (v. 5) ; 3. Acceptance in Christ (v. 6) ; 4. Redemption through Christ (v. 7a); 5. Forgiveness through Christ (v. 7b); 6. Knowledge of His will (v. 9); 7. Final gathering in Christ (v. 19); 8. A predestined inheritance (v. 11); 9. Sealing by the Holy Spirit (v. 13); 10. The Holy Spirit for our guarantee (v. 14).       But note also that Paul declares how and why God the Father blessed us: 1.  “According to the good pleasure of His will” (v. 5); 2.  “To the praise of the glory of His grace” (v. 6); 3.  “According to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us” (v. 7f); 4.  “According to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself” (v. 9); 5.  “According to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His wi...

"Thank You for Being Our God."

One of our brethren includes this sentence when he leads us in congregational prayer. It is a worthy prayer of thanksgiving. For it thanks God for fulfilling His oft-repeated promise “I will be their God, and they shall be My people” (Jeremiah 24:7; 31:33; 32:38; Ezekiel 11:20; 37:23, 27; Zechariah 8:8; II Corinthians 6:16; Hebrews 8:10) .     God does not thank us for making ourselves to be His people and for letting Him be our God. Rather, we thank Him for making us to be His people, and for revealing Himself to us as our God, and for His exceedingly bountiful blessings to us.   –preacher Daniel E. Parks

No Religion But Christ!

"Men and women in our religious day will be damned through the very religion by which they hope to be saved if that religion conditions salvation on anything other than the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Any hope or claim of the forgiveness of sins based on anything other than the precious, powerful blood of Christ leaves the sinner unclean and contaminated by sin. Any hope or claim of justification before God based on anything other than the righteousness of God in Christ freely imputed and received by faith leaves the sinner condemned and cursed.  Apart from a complete and total dependence upon Christ alone by the grace of God alone, religion, no matter how sincere, kind, or moral, will not help. It will do the opposite. There is no true religion but that which is founded upon, centered around, and aimed  towards the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ!"   —preacher Bill Parker

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 11 May, 2026 A.D.

"There is one body and one Spirit." -Ephesians 4:4 [KJV] St. Paul exhorts saints to a holy, loving, peaceful walk. He knew nothing could effect this, like the consideration, that they all composed one body, of which the holy, loving, peaceful Jesus is the Head. While the power of this truth lives in the heart, love prevails in holiness before God and peace with our brethren. Then, in sweet fellowship, we say, with Abraham to Lot, “Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee—for we are brethren” (Genesis 13:8.) There is one body. Saith our Lord, “A body hast Thou prepared Me” (Hebrews 10:5.) As Christ had a natural body, formed by the power of the Holy Ghost, which He was to inhabit, in which He was to atone for sin, fulfil all righteousness, and make intercession for transgressors; so He has also a mystical body, chosen and given Him by God the Father: in and over all these He is Head. This is a sweet word. “God gave Christ to be Head over all thi...

The Equality of God's Mercy in Justification

"And by Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses."   -Acts 13:39 [KJV] What can be more blessed to a poor conscious sinner, such, my soul, as thou art from day to day, than the ministry of His servant the apostle, in these gracious words. Sit down, this evening, and, under His divine teaching, ponder them duly over. A poor guilty sinner needs a rich and holy Saviour. That he cannot justify himself in the sight of God, is most evident, for the least gust left upon the conscience would condemn him for ever. He cannot be justified by the deeds of the law; for by the law is the knowledge of sin, and in the law we learn that we have all sinned, and come short of God's glory . He cannot be justified by the offerings and sacrifices made under the law of Moses; for how can the blood of bulls and of goats take away sin? By what then, or by whom, my soul canst thou be justified? Hear what this sweet ...

Times of Trial, Exercise, Perplexity & Sorrow ~ Rejoice in Christ JESUS

"I will not let thee go, except thou bless me." -Genesis 32:26 [KJV] It is encouraging to the Lord's people as they are from time to time placed in similar circumstances of trial, exercise, perplexity, sorrow or distress with Jacob, to see the blessed result of his wrestling with the angel. He crosses the ford of Jabbok all weakness; he recrosses it all strength. He leaves his family, and wrestles alone, a fainting Jacob; he returns to them a prevailing Israel. He goes to the Lord in an agony of doubt and alarm, fearing every moment lest he and all that was dear to him should be swept off from the face of the earth; he returns with the Lord's blessing in his soul, with the light of the Lord's countenance lifted up upon him.   And is not this instance recorded for the instruction and consolation of the Lord's living family? Are they not from time to time in circumstances experimentally which resemble Jacob's circumstances literally? Have they ...
