The Sweetness of Manifested Pardon

"Is anything too hard for the L ORD ?" -Genesis 18:14 [KJV] The Lord will make us feel that though His arm is not shortened that it cannot save, nor His ear heavy that it cannot hear, yet He is to be enquired of. He is indeed a God that worketh wonders; apparent impossibilities are nothing with Him; He has but to speak and it is done. But He will make us know His power by making us feel our weakness. He will often keep at a great distance, and for a long time, in order to make us value His presence.  He will make us sink very low that He may lift us very high. He will make us taste the bitterness of the gall and wormwood of sin that we may know the sweetness of manifested pardon . He will teach us to abhor ourselves in our own sight, and loathe ourselves for our abominations, before we shall see and know ourselves washed in His blood, clothed in His righteousness, and to stand before Him without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. The Lord in one sense is easy of ...

JESUS OUR SACRIFICE by D.G. Miles McKee   "And they bring Him unto the place Golgotha which is, being interpreted,  The place of the skull."   -Mark 15:22 [KJV] What sacrifice can we make that will impress God more than Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary? None! In the light of the one great sacrifice made by Christ Jesus, our best efforts at self-denial fade to oblivion. The great missionary, David Livingstone, sacrificed everything to bring the Gospel to the continent of Africa, yet he said,  “I never made a sacrifice. We ought not to talk of 'sacrifice' when we remember the great sacrifice which Christ made for us.” Indeed, the heart of Christianity is neither about us nor our sacrifices, it is about Jesus. As P. T. Forsyth said, " Christianity is not the sacrifice that we make; it is the sacrifice that we trust ." Consider this, on the day of His death, the Lord Jesus was brought to Golgotha, the place of the skull. Look at Him, the perfectly pure and l...

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 26 March, 2025 A.D.

" When ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do ." - Jesus Christ the L ORD of Glory , as per Luke 17:10 [KJV] This is a fatal stab to human merit: this is a deadly blow to sinless perfection. O! flee from the idea of any merit in thee or thy works, as from the face of the devil: it is of the pride of Satan. Avoid the thought of being perfect in thyself, as thou wouldest the most damnable lie: it ariseth from self-deceit, and is established through ignorance of God’s holy law. Our dear Lord here instructs us to be active, yet humble, to be obedient, yet self-abased; to do all things, yet own our unprofitableness after all. Beware you do not learn to decry that word, duty. It is very common for many so to do, as implying nothing but what is legal.  Thy Lord here uses it. Be not wiser than thy Master. True, thou art freed from all slavish duty and legal bondage, in o...

Precious GOD, Precious JESUS ~ our praises unto Him

"Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb." -Song of Solomon 4:11 [KJV] While Jesus is so precious to His people, that they seek Him in every thing that is lovely, and indeed can discover nothing to be lovely until they have found Jesus in it, what an endearment is it to the soul of a believer, when he discovers Jesus looking upon him, eyeing him, and even commending Jesus' own graces, which He hath imparted to the soul, brought out into exercises again by the influences of His own Holy Spirit. My soul, canst thou really be led to believe that Jesus is speaking to His church, to His fair one, His spouse, to every individual soul of His redeemed and regenerated ones, in those sweet words of the song?  Doth Jesus, the Son of God, call thee His spouse; and doth He say, Thy lips drop as the honeycomb? Pause, my soul, and ponder over these gracious words of thy God. By thy lips, no doubt, Jesus means thy words; of which Solomon saith "pleasant words are ...
