IT MATTERS WHAT A MAN BELIEVES ABOUT CHRIST: Who He is, what He has done, and where He is now is absolutely necessary to a man's hope. If Christ is not God, then He is less than God: anything less than God is not holy. Anything that is not holy, God is not pleased with, and anything that God is not pleased with is under His condemnation. If Christ has not satisfied completely my case before God Almighty (placing me in perfect standing with a God Who is so holy that He would turn His back on His very Son because my guilt was laid to His account), then I am helplessly lost. If He is not at this very moment interceding for me, pleading His own accomplishment in my behalf, then I have no peace with God. If the Son of Man has made you free, you are free - free from the wrath of divine justice, free from the law of God that did reveal my sinful state, and free from the strivings of bondage by yokes placed on me that no one has ever been able to bear. "I will satisfy her poor with bread." -P SALM 132:15 [KJV] What a sweetness there is in the word "satisfy!" The world cannot satisfy you and me. Have we not tried, some of us perhaps for many years, to get some satisfaction from it? But can wife or husband "satisfy" us? Can children or relatives "satisfy" us? Can all the world calls good or great "satisfy" us? Can the pleasures of sin "satisfy" us? Is there not in all an aching void? Do we not reap dissatisfaction and disappointment from everything that is of the creature, and of the flesh? Do we not find that there is little else but sorrow to be reaped from everything in this world? I am sure I find, and have found for some years, that there is little else to be gathered from the world but disappointment, dissatisfaction, "vanity and vexation of spirit." "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" -J OHN 14:6 [KJV] Christ is not the way to the Father in the sense of one who goes before sinners and says, "follow in my footsteps and I will show you the way to God." He is more than a teacher who points out the way or gives directions as to how we can find the way. No! He is Himself the Way to God, salvation, life, righteousness, forgiveness and acceptance. Christ and His sacrificial death is the only Channel through which God comes to sinners, and undeserving sinners draw near to God. He is "the Way" by the Father’s appointment for He honors every attribute of God, and He meets the sinner’s every need. He is the Way into everlasting bliss, and He is the Way into the presence of the Father. There is no other means to approach a just God so as to be received except by this divinely appointed Way. He alone can present u
