The Tender Mercy of our God

"Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." - Luke 1:78, 79 There is a way of peace, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. For He is "our peace," and "the way," and therefore the way of peace. He has made peace through the blood of H is cross ( Col ossians 1:20 ), having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to them which were afar off, "sitting in darkness and the shadow of death," and to them that were nigh ( Eph esians 2:16, 17 ). The dayspring, then, breaking in upon the soul, shines upon the way of peace, and guides the feet into it. The light shines upon the way lined with blood, the way of salvation through the finished work, atoning blood, and meritorious sufferings of the Son of God. As, then, the light shines upon the way, and it is seen as a way of pea...
Weekend Gospel message to follow for All Hands ( 04-06JAN 1 9 ) Heads-Up --- Please find enclosed encouragement in "SO GREAT SALVATION" by the perfect and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy and wretched sinners by His sovereign free grace - God's unmerited favor - from their sins and from Hell: “ Dear believer in Christ Jesus, the Savior has assured His followers of the reality of trials while we are in this world. Remember, however, afflictions are not divine judgments; none can be punished for sins in whose stead Christ has been punished. "There is, therefore, now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). It is true you will have tribulations, as the Savior said (John 16:33), but you will never be condemned because He endured the curse of the law as your Substitute. It is an undeniable truth that, unless the Lord returns, your body is headed to the grave, but your soul is not headed to hell. T...
The Best of Men Are Only Men at Their Very Best While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him " (Matthew 17:5). Let us see in these words a striking lesson to the whole Church of Christ. There is a constant tendency in human nature to "hear man"...bishops, priests, deacons, popes, cardinals, councils, preachers, and ministers, are continually exalted to a place which God never intended them to fill, and made practically to usurp the honor of Christ. Against this tendency let us all watch, and be on our guard. Let these solemn words of the vision ever ring in our ears, Listen to Christ! The best of men are only men at their very best ...patriarchs, prophets, apostles, martyrs, church fathers, reformers, puritans; all, all are sinners, who need a Savior. They may be holy, useful, honorable in their place; but they are sinners after all. T...

To God Alone Be The Glory

The Masterpiece of God’s Works The gracious salvation of sinners by the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest of all the works of Jehovah. Certainly everything in creation owes its existence to the power and brilliance of God and divine providence is simply the Lord in irresistible might directing all things to the end He determined before He made the world. In the salvation of sinners, however, all the attributes of God are more prominently displayed, magnified and satisfied than in all of creation and providence combined. The divine rescue of sinners through the blood and righteousness of the appointed Savior is the masterpiece of all the works of our glorious Lord. Behold His everlasting love, His unbridled sovereignty, His manifold wisdom, His impeccable holiness, His boundless grace, His infinite power, His inflexible justice and His unfathomable mercy all shining brightly in this enterprise of saving ungodly wretches from...
“ Salvation is of the LORD.” -Jonah 2:9c [KJV] “ Our salvation is so well contrived, so well concerted, that God may have mercy upon poor sinners, and be at peace with them, without any wrong to His truth and righteousness.” – Gospel report by preacher Matthew Henry (1662-1714 A.D.)

The Sinless Savior

"Much notice is taken in Scriptures of the innocency, holiness and righteousness of the Redeemer; that He was holy in His nature, harmless in His life; that He knew no sin, nor ever committed any; that He, the Just and Holy One, suffered for the unjust. A great emphasis is put upon this, that the price with which men are redeemed is the precious blood of Christ, "as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot" ( 1 Peter 1:19 ). For if He had had any sin in Him, He could not have been a redeemer from sin, nor His blood the price of redemption. And yet more than all this, it is necessary to make this price a full and adequate one. It must not be the blood of a mere creature, but of one that is God as well as man. And such is Christ. Therefore, Christ, Who is God, is said to purchase the church with His own blood ( Acts 20:28 ). Being God and man in one person, this gave His blood a sufficient virtue to make such a purchase. And a peculiar emphasis is put ...
Our times are in Thy hand, Father we wish them there: our life, our soul, our all, we leave entirely to Thy care. Our times are in Thy hand, whatever they may be, pleasing or painful, dark or bright, as best may seem to Thee. Our times are in Thy hand, why should we doubt or fear? A Father’s hand will never cause His child a needless tear. Our times are in Thy hand, Jesus the crucified! The hand our many sins had pierced is now our Guard and Guide. Our times are in Thy hand, we’ll always trust in Thee; ‘till we have left this weary land and all Thy glory see. –W. F. Lloyd, 1835 A.D.
