Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 07 September, 2026 A.D.

Here we are, Lord, at Your bidding,
  With our grateful hearts and praise;
  Hymns and songs that are befitting
  To Your name our voices raise.
  Hear our prayer and supplication
  That we pray in Jesus’ name;
  May we in this congregation
  Worship truly, without blame.

 We have come to hear of Jesus,
  Glorious Prophet, Priest, and King;
  Bless the man who now Him preaches,
  Bless the message he will bring.
  All our hearts are to You lifted
  To the praise of Jesus Christ;
  May our worship be accepted
  As a holy sacrifice.

THE PREACHING THAT COMES 

FROM THIS PULPIT CHARACTERIZED

Here are some things that I want to characterize the preaching that comes from this pulpit. Every message needs to be:

1. God honoring. You can’t preach God holy enough, sovereign enough, nor high enough.

2. Man dishonoring. You can’t preach man sinful enough, dead enough, nor low enough.

3. Christ. Since “Christ is all”, then you haven’t preached at all if you haven’t preached Christ ... His Person and work.

4. Scriptural. It is the preaching of His Word that God has promised to bless ... not man’s thought and opinions (Jeremiah 23:28-29). Every sermon should be examined by the scriptures to see “whether these things be so” (Acts 17:11).

5. Plain and Simple. Our Lord Jesus Christ was a preacher. He Who made man’s mouth could have spoken in a heavenly language no man could understand, yet He spoke very simply so that all could understand ... except the wise, mighty and noble.

6. Brief. Jacob got up one day and preached the shortest, but the best message his family had ever heard. He said, We are in a famine, we are all dying, but I’ve heard there is CORN IN EGYPT. So, don’t look at one another, get down to Egypt (Genesis 42:1-2). Church dismissed!

“WITH MAN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE”

 (Matthew 19:26)

The disciples just asked the Lord, “Who then can be saved?” Think about what our Lord said here: “With man it is IMPOSSIBLE!” Shouldn’t this put an end to any notion that man’s works, will, and decision has anything to do with his salvation? IMPOSSIBLE! How plain can the Word of the Lord be? Such ignorance and unbelief underscores the fact that it is impossible for a man to believe unless the Lord makes him. When the Lord saves a man, that man knows the Lord did it!

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 19 October, 2025 A.D.

"Behold, he prayeth!"   -Acts 9:11 [KJV] In many trades, it is customary to shew samples or patterns. By these men judge of the goodness or quality of the whole. St. Paul sets himself forth as a sample, or pattern, of the free, distinguishing, sovereign, unmerited grace of God, that we should judge of its nature by its efficacy upon him. “I obtained mercy, for this cause, that in me first   (-a first rate sinner) Jesus Christ may shew forth His all long suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting”   (I Timothy 1:16.) Thou hast seen this pattern of free grace. What dost thou think of it?  The whole is alike with the pattern. It cometh alike upon elect sinners. It finds no more prerequisites, fitness, qualifications, or conditions in any, than it did in St. Paul. Whenever it takes place upon any, it produceth the same effects as it did in him. Helpful Article re: BE NOT CONFORMED

"...be not conformed to this world." -Romans 12:2 [KJV] In proportion as we are conformed to the spirit of this world our understanding becomes dull in the things of God, our affections cold and torpid, and our consciences less tender and sensitive.
