BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

Thy providence O gracious Lord,

Has brought us to this place;

May Thy great name now be adored,

Thou Author of free grace.

‘Tis not to honor flesh that we

Now join our hearts as one;

But we desire to worship Thee,

And pray, “Thy will be done.”

Our Father praise be unto Thee,

For blessings numberless;

For grace from old eternity,

Which we in Christ possess.

And Christ, Thy wonders we confess,

Thou Lamb of Calvary;

‘Tis by Thy blood and righteousness,

We are from sin set free.

Thou Holy Spirit, heav’nly Dove,

We praise Thee for Thy grace;

For by Thy pow’r and saving love,

By faith we Christ embrace.

O Sovereign God of earth and sky,

May all the praise be Thine;

Help us Thy name to magnify,

This is our great design.

      “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.  Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.  I will praise Thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto Thee among the nations.  For Thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and Thy truth unto the clouds.  Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let Thy glory be above all the earth.” -Psalm 57:7-11 [KJV]

      BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

     Just before His glorious ascension the Savior declared to His disciples: “All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18).  By “all power” is meant all authority and strength and the extent of His jurisdiction is throughout “heaven and earth.”  Of course, as God He already had limitless authority, but as God-Man, Mediator and Servant of Jehovah, He earned the right to have absolute authority and obtained the privilege of exercising that authority throughout the heaven above and the earth beneath.  It is with the assurance that Christ has “all power in heaven and in earth” that He commissioned His preachers to “go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

It is our responsibility to obey that command.  We have no power of ourselves, but are sent forth by Him Who has “all power over all flesh that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him” (John 17:2).  It is our delightful duty to declare the good news of salvation for sinners in the person of and by the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We proclaim the very wisdom of God in the death of His Son and declare that by His bloody sacrifice for sin the holy law which demanded death for sin was satisfied, the justice of God was honored and the sin debt of a multitude of sinners was paid in full.  It is our business to tell all men, regardless of who they are or what their standing in life may be, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).

We warn those who have not trusted Christ of their danger: “he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).  We offer absolutely no word of comfort to those who do not look to the Lamb of God for the full remission of their sins.  There is no middle ground - either you are a believer and therefore safe in Christ Jesus forevermore - or you are an unbeliever and your soul is in jeopardy of everlasting destruction.  There is no Savior but Christ the Lord and there is no place of safety for sinners except in Christ.  There is no entrance into Him except through faith.  There is no faith unless God is pleased to give it (Ephesians 2:8-9).
