Saved by Almighty God's Unmerited Favor
SALVATION BY FREE GRACE
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9 [KJV]
And the Saviour informs us, “I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance… go and learn what that means” (Matthew 9:13).
Dear lost sons and daughters of Adam, some of you have probably given considerable thought to coming to the Lord Jesus Christ, but you contemplate coming to Him based upon some kind of degree of feeling or emotion, tears, and prayers. This, you suppose, would warrant your coming to Him. In other words, this would recommend you to the Saviour.
Listen to me, dear souls, this notion is nothing but foolish unbelief and self-righteousness. You will not come to Christ with nothing but sinful self and trust His promises to save you. You do not trust Him to save you by His free grace alone, but imagine that you must come to Him with a bribe in your hand - a good feeling or prayer. Hear me precious soul, the only way a saving relationship may be obtained and maintained with the Saviour of sinners is a relationship based entirely upon human sin and free, Divine grace!
NO human worth, merit, or work can enter into this relationship. The glorious and everlasting salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ comes by sovereign, free grace to helpless, bankrupt sinners. The guilty, condemned, empty sinner has only to believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved. And all such sinners shall be saved! -Acts 16:31
“In my hand no price I bring
Simply to Thy cross I cling.”
