A Meek and Quiet Spirit

“A meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” -I Peter 3:4 [KJV]

The very fact that God is said to highly value this spirit is enough to show us how important it is.  Meekness is that attitude or temper of spirit that sees that God is in control, whatever He does is right, therefore His dealings with us are good, and to be accepted without complaint.  Meekness believes that God is God.  Always with meekness there will be quietness. This word means tranquil.

It is not stressed out or anxious, because it really believes the God of Glory, who is too wise to err and too kind to be cruel, is in absolute sovereign control.  It is impossible to believe He is in control and not be tranquil, and it is impossible to be tranquil and not really believe He is in control.  A meek and quiet spirit glorifies God!
