Encouraging Words for Afflicted Saints
PRAISE THE NAME OF JESUS
Tune: “At Calvary” 9.9.9.4. w/chorus Words by Jim Byrd
Son of God, one of the trinity,
Came to earth, O what a mystery;
He descended by divine decree.
O praise His Name! Chorus.
Chorus: Jesus kept the law of God for me,
Paid my debt of sin on Calvary;
By His grace He saves eternally,
O praise His Name.
On the cross He bore our misery,
Died from sin to set His people free;
By Himself He won the victory,
O praise His Name! Chorus.
Now for us the Savior intercedes,
Unto Him the Holy Spirit leads;
Every blessing from His throne proceeds,
O praise His Name! Chorus.
Soon will come the long-awaited day,
Christ will come and take His bride away;
Never from His blessed side to stray,
We’ll praise His Name. Chorus.
Then together in a perfect place,
All the ransomed shall behold His face;
Evermore to sing of sovereign grace,
And praise His Name! Chorus.

ENCOURAGING WORDS FOR AFFLICTED SAINTS
Child of God, I will not say that you will never suffer during your lifetime. As the Savior promised His disciples, so He says to all His people. “In this world ye shall have tribulation” (John 16:33). I do say, however, you will never suffer divine wrath for your sins (neither in this world nor in the one which is to come) because Christ was punished in your stead. Though you believe the Savior you will still experience difficulties in the world, but be assured, no child of God will ever be condemned for sin because Christ endured the curse of the law as our Substitute.
There is no denying that our bodies are headed to the grave, unless Christ returns soon, but our souls are not headed to hell because Christ paid our sin-debt; where there is no indebtedness there is no judgement! We will not die in our sins because Christ has died for our sins. “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels” (Isaiah 61:10).
