THE SINLESS SACRIFICE

When the Lord Jesus Christ hung upon the cross, He was there as the Representative and Substitute of His people. It is written that He knew no sin ( II Corinthians 5:21) , was without sin (Hebrews 4:15) , did no sin ( I Peter 2:22) , and in Him was no sin ( I John 3:5) . He was the divine, perfect sacrifice for sin. This was His qualification. When He died, He had not been made unjust, but remained "the Just One" (Acts 7:52) . "The Just died for the unjust to bring us to God" ( I Peter 3:18) . It is true that all of the iniquities of His people were imputed to Him, yet all the while He remained, in Himself, the spotless, holy Lamb of God. He was undefiled (Hebrews 7:26) and could not be defiled. He was, is and always shall be the impeccable Christ. In all aspects of His life and in every conceivable sense, the Lord Jesus was the embodiment of purity and the Spirit of inspiration led the writers of Scripture to keep this vital truth of the si...

His Mighty Power

"And what is the exceeding greatness of H is power to usward who believe, according to the working of H is mighty power, which H e wrought in Christ, when H e raised H im from the dead." - Ephesians 1:19- 20  Man needs to be roused by a mighty and effectual power out of his state of sleep and death. It is not a little pull, a gentle snatch at his coat, a slight tug of his sleeve, which will pull him out of his sins. He must be snatched from them as a person would be snatched out of bed when the house is on fire, or pulled out of a river when sinking for the last time. Let us never think that the work of grace upon the heart is a slight or superficial one. Indeed, there needs a mighty work of grace upon a sinner's heart to deliver him from his destructions. We always, therefore, find the work of grace to begin by a spiritual sight and sense of our ruined condition before God. But this alone will not suffice to make us true-hearted disciples of Jesus. It is a ...

The joy of an Everlasting Salvation

What grace it is when sinful creatures of time are brought by God's grace and Spirit to rejoice in eternal things. To rejoice in the eternal God! What rejoicing is theirs when they are made to hear the good news of the gospel in Christ: “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and H e shall thrust out the enemy from before thee....” (Deut eronomy 33:27) . Jehovah-Jesus is none other than the everlasting God in flesh. The Psalmist declares, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever T hou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, T hou art God” (Psalm 90:2) . His covenant of grace and mercy in Christ, being ordered in all things and sure, all the salvation of His people, is the “everlasting covenant.” For this reason, His gospel is called the “everlasting gospel.” There is nothing new with Him but it comes as news to His chosen people. That redemption which is in Him and accomplish...

Jesus Christ the Righteous!

"HE WAS MANIFESTED TO TAKE AWAY OUR SINS; AND IN HIM IS NO SIN"     -I John 3:5 [KJV] Though He was made to be sin for us, when He bore our sins in His own body on the tree, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST HAD NO SIN OF HIS OWN. He had no original sin, because He was not represented by Adam in the garden of Eden. He had no Adamic sin nature, because He was not descended from Adam. He is the Seed of the woman. His human body and soul were created by the Holy Spirit in the virgin's womb. And He had no actual sin. He never thought, felt, said, or did a sinful thing. "He knew no sin, neither was guile found in H is mouth." Our Savior "was holy, harmless, undefiled and separate from sinners." In order for Him to be a suitable sacrifice for sin, it was necessary that our Substitute be without sin, innocent, righteous and holy. Our Redeemer had to be God. Otherwise He could not satisfy the law and justice of God. He had to be a man. Otherwise He c...

The Righteousness of God

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” -Romans 10:3 [KJV] It is not for ignorance, as such, that the Jews were condemned. If that were so, a simple theology lesson would have brought them salvation. Rather, it was what their ignorance led them to do that sealed their doom: they would not submit to the righteousness of God revealed in Jesus Christ. It is certain that if a man is ignorant of the righteousness of God, he cannot and will not submit to it. But it is also true that a man may be fully aware of the righteousness of God as revealed in the Gospel doctrine yet not submit to it. So subtle is Satan and so deceptive the human heart that one may actually think that his acknowledgment of the righteousness of God is his righteousness: h e may think that, because he believes the doctrine, and even publicly defends it, God accepts him. ...

All Glory To Christ JESUS - "The LORD our righteousness"

“ That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord .” - I Corinthians 1:31 [KJV] What do believers glory in when they glory in the Lord? They glory in His holiness (Ex odus 24:15-17) . They glory in His grace (Lev iticus 9:22-23) . And they glory in His mercy ( II Chron icles 7:1-3) . What is the greatest display of the glory of the Lord’s holiness, grace, and mercy that the world has ever seen, and could ever know? The Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary! Holiness demanded a sacrifice for sin. Grace provided one, and Mercy poured the Blood of that sacrifice all over the sinners that God chose to save! “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Gal atians 6:14) . -Gospel report by preacher Gabe Stalnaker

Where else can you go?

I constantly try to drive home this point to our hearts: Go to Christ! Yet there are many who still will not go to Christ. I ask you this question: where else can you go? Where else can you go for forgiveness of your sin? It is “the blood of Jesus Christ H is Son cleanseth us from all sin” (I John 1:7) . Where else can you go for salvation? “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12) . Where else can you go for righteousness? “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain” (Gal atians 2:21) . Where else can you go for the water of life? “If any man thirst, let him come unto M e, and drink” (John 7:37) . Where else can you go for the way of salvation, the truth of God, and eternal life? “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by M e” (John 14:6) ...
