"Thank You for Being Our God."
One of our brethren includes this sentence when he leads us in congregational prayer. It is a worthy prayer of thanksgiving. For it thanks God for fulfilling His oft-repeated promise “I will be their God, and they shall be My people” (Jeremiah 24:7; 31:33; 32:38; Ezekiel 11:20; 37:23, 27; Zechariah 8:8; II Corinthians 6:16; Hebrews 8:10).
God does not thank us for making ourselves to be His people and for letting Him be our God. Rather, we thank Him for making us to be His people, and for revealing
Himself to us as our God, and for His exceedingly bountiful blessings to
us.
