Hallelujah, Praise the Savior!

Hallelujah praise the Savior,

He Who bore our sin and shame;

Praise His Name for He has triumphed,

Sing His glories, spread His fame.

CHORUS: Let us love and praise the Savior,

Love and praise Him evermore;

Jesus is our great salvation,

Love and praise Him forevermore.

Hallelujah praise the Savior,

Who for sinners once was slain;

Magnify the One who saved us,

Washed away our guilty stain.  CHORUS:

Hallelujah for the Savior

Came to save His chosen bride;

By His blood the Savior bought us

When for us He bled and diedCHORUS:

Hallelujah Jesus suffered,

Bore the wrath of God alone;

He for us obtained the vict’ry,

Now He reigns upon His throne!  CHORUS:

Hallelujah what a Savior,

Prophet, Priest and reigning King;

Soon He will come down from heaven,

All His ransomed home to bring.  CHORUS:

HALLELUJAH, PRAISE THE SAVIOR!

Tune: “JESUS, WHAT A FRIEND FOR SINNERS” 8.7.8.7. double Words by Jim Byrd

-------O-------

In Thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.  Deliver me in Thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline Thine ear unto me, and save me.  Be Thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given commandment to save me; for Thou art my rock and my fortress” (Psalm 71:1-3).

     In one word, the great fact on which the Christian’s hope rests is substitution.  The vicarious sacrifice of Christ for the sinner, Christ’s suffering for the sinner, Christ’s being made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him, Christ offering up a true and proper substitutionary sacrifice in the place of as many as the Father gave Him, who are recognized by their trusting in Him – this is the cardinal fact of the gospel.

Substitution is the very marrow of the whole Bible, the soul of salvation, the essence of the gospel.  We sought to saturate all our sermons with it, for it is the lifeblood of a gospel ministry.
