Not what these hands have done

Can save this guilty soul

WHERE IS THE LAMB?

 

As Abraham walked up Mount Moriah with his son Isaac to offer him up as a burnt offering to God, Isaac did not yet know that was his father’s intention.  He asked his father, “Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” That is a question that should be asked concerning every sermon that is preached:  Where is the Lamb?  I am not suggesting hearing in a critical way,  looking for certain words or phrases and condemning the sermon if they are not spoken. A sermon could be preached where the word “Lamb” is never used and it could still be a great sermon because it is all founded on Christ crucified. If it is not, it is  a false message no matter how good it sounds.  I heard a preacher say, “There is no blood” in the sermon on the mount - only “Follow Me.”  The preacher was wrong!  Although the word “blood” was not used, it was the blood of Christ that was the foundation of it all!  With regard to every message I preach or hear, “Where is the Lamb?”

FEAR AND FAITH

 

The fear of God and faith in Christ cannot be separated.  You cannot have one without the other.  The one is the evidence of the other.  Wherever there is true reverence and fear and awe of God, you are afraid to look anywhere but Christ alone!  When you look to Christ alone, it is because you have such an awe and fear of God in His holy Character, you are not looking anywhere else…the true fear of God causes faith in Christ alone.  Faith in Christ alone comes from an understanding of the true character of God.

FULL, FINISHED, FOREVER


  “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” -Hebrews 9:12

 

There are three simple words that capture the heart of the Gospel: Full, Finished, Forever.  Together, they remind us of what God has done through Jesus Christ and the unshakable hope we have in Him.  

 

FULL reminds us of God’s abundant provision.  God does not offer us an incomplete salvation or limited grace.  He fills our emptiness with His presence, our weakness with His strength, and our hearts with His peace.  His mercy is new every morning, and His love never runs dry.

 

FINISHED points us to Calvary.  We stand forgiven, not because of what we have done, but because of what Christ finished. 

 

FOREVER reminds us that God’s promises never expire.  His faithfulness is forever.  No circumstance, hardship, or trial can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

 

May our lives reflect the joy and confidence that comes from knowing our hope is full, finished, and forever.

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 19 October, 2025 A.D.

"Behold, he prayeth!"   -Acts 9:11 [KJV] In many trades, it is customary to shew samples or patterns. By these men judge of the goodness or quality of the whole. St. Paul sets himself forth as a sample, or pattern, of the free, distinguishing, sovereign, unmerited grace of God, that we should judge of its nature by its efficacy upon him. “I obtained mercy, for this cause, that in me first   (-a first rate sinner) Jesus Christ may shew forth His all long suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting”   (I Timothy 1:16.) Thou hast seen this pattern of free grace. What dost thou think of it?  The whole is alike with the pattern. It cometh alike upon elect sinners. "...be not conformed to this world." -Romans 12:2 [KJV] In proportion as we are conformed to the spirit of this world our understanding becomes dull in the things of God, our affections cold and torpid, and our consciences less tender and sensitive.
