Faith, Hope & Love

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” -I Corinthians 13:13 [KJV]

 

There are three main graces...

 

1). FAITH, by which we look to Christ, receive Christ, and live upon Him (Romans 5:1; Hebrews 12:2). 

 

2). HOPE, by which we wait for the fulfillment of every promise in Christ  (Romans 8:24; Colossians 1:27; I Thessalonians 2:16).

 

3). LOVE to God and men. Yet LOVE exceeds the others as to its duration and use (I John 4:19-21).

 

FAITH will give way to sight one day, and HOPE will become reality; but LOVE SHALL ONLY EXPAND!

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 19 October, 2025 A.D.

"Behold, he prayeth!"   -Acts 9:11 [KJV] In many trades, it is customary to shew samples or patterns. By these men judge of the goodness or quality of the whole. St. Paul sets himself forth as a sample, or pattern, of the free, distinguishing, sovereign, unmerited grace of God, that we should judge of its nature by its efficacy upon him. “I obtained mercy, for this cause, that in me first   (-a first rate sinner) Jesus Christ may shew forth His all long suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting”   (I Timothy 1:16.) Thou hast seen this pattern of free grace. What dost thou think of it?  The whole is alike with the pattern. It cometh alike upon elect sinners. It finds no more prerequisites, fitness, qualifications, or conditions in any, than it did in St. Paul. Whenever it takes place upon any, it produceth the same effects as it did in him. Helpful Article re: BE NOT CONFORMED

"...be not conformed to this world." -Romans 12:2 [KJV] In proportion as we are conformed to the spirit of this world our understanding becomes dull in the things of God, our affections cold and torpid, and our consciences less tender and sensitive. There is an eternal opposition between God and the world lying in wickedness.  In order, then, that our spiritual experience of the truth of God should maintain its ground, it must not be dulled and deadened by conformity to the world. It is like the sabre that the soldier carries into battle; it must not trail unsheathed upon the ground lest point and edge be dulled; both must be kept keen and sharp, that execution may be done upon the foe.
