This Greatest of all Charters ~ THE COVENANT OF GRACE...

Sovereign grace o’re sin abounding

Ransomed souls, the tidings swell

’Tis a deep that knows no sounding

Who its breadth or length can tell?

On its glories, On its glories,

Let my soul forever dwell.

Heirs of God, joint-heirs with Jesus

Long ere time its race begun

To His Name eternal praise

O what wonders love hath done!

One with Jesus, One with Jesus,

By eternal union One.

Who from Christ our souls can sever

Bound by everlasting bands

Once in Him, in Him forever

Thus the eternal covenant stands

None can pluck thee, None can pluck thee,

From the strength of Israel’s hands.

On such love, my soul, still ponder

Love so great, so rich, so free

Say, while lost in holy wonder

Why, O Lord, such love to me?

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Grace shall reign eternally.

-Gospel hymn, “Angels, from the Realms of Glory”

"In this great charter - the covenant of grace - the Lord declares that He will require no more than He gives, that He will give what He requires, and that He will accept what He gives; and what can God say more?  And what can a gracious soul desire more?" -Thomas Brooks

GOD’S WAYS ARE NOT OUR WAYS

"I thought to prepare myself for great things only to learn that it was the tough voice in the wilderness He planned to use (and not the polished preacher;) it was the weak, impulsive shepherd with the sling that He planned to use and not the mighty warrior with his armor of wit and arsenal of facts, doctrines, and learning.  If we do not pour contempt on ourselves, God will!"  -Henry Mahan

The apostle Paul wrote, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief” (I Timothy 1:15).  The closer a believer is brought to Christ, the more clearly he sees the depth of his own sinfulness and the greatness of God’s grace.  “They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick”  (Matthew 9:12.)  -David Eddmenson
