The Blood of Christ Was Enough!

What does the Bible say about the death of the Lord Jesus Christ?

1. His death was eternally appointed. He was the spotless Lamb “Who verily was foreordained before
the foundation of the world”
(I Peter 1:20).

2. His death was divinely brought about. “It pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief; when Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin...” (Isaiah 53:10)

3. His death satisfied infinite justice enabling God to be “a just God and a Savior” (Isaiah 45:21)

4. His death was substitutionary. “Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it” (Ephesians 5:25)

5. His death was the ransom price for His captive people. “He obtained eternal redemption for us” (Hebrews 9:12)

6. His death put away the sins of those for whom He died. “When He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of God” (Hebrews 1:3)

7. His death restored chosen sinners back to God. “And all things are of God, Who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ” (II Corinthians 5:18)

The death of Christ appeased a holy God; the blood of Christ was enough. His substitutionary, justice-satisfying death does not wait upon nor need the faith of the sinner to make it effectual. All God demanded for the redemption of His people has been accomplished by the Savior. Ransomed sinners cannot perish; they cannot be condemned because Christ has been condemned in their stead. Blood-bought sinners will be effectually called to believe Christ. They will be made willing to come to Him in the day of His power (Psalm 110:3), to be saved solely by His blood and righteousness.
