Attention: True vs. False Doctrine

 

TWO DIFFERING DOCTRINES REGARDING

JESUS CHRIST’S ATONEMENT

Limited Atonement
(aka Particular Redemption,
Substitutionary Atonement,
Accomplished Atonement)

Unlimited Atonement
(aka General Atonement,
Universal Atonement,
Conditional Atonement)

Christ died for “many”, not for all without exception (Isaiah 53:11, 12; Matthew 20:28; 26:28; Hebrews 9:28).

Christ died for all without exception, not for only “many”.

Christ died for particular sinners identified by Jehovah as “My people” (Isaiah 53:8; cp. Matthew 1:21; John 15:13f; Acts 20:28 / Ephesians 5:25; John 10:11).

Christ died for all in general, for no one in particular.

Christ died to redeem sinners “out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9).

Christ died to redeem everyone in every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

Jehovah declares Christ died as the substitute for the “many” who are “My people” and that He justified them all (Isaiah 53:8, 11).

Christ died as the substitute for all without exception but did not make atonement for them all (as the Lake of Fire will forever testify).

Jehovah’s people confess Christ died as their substitute and saved them all (Isaiah 53:4-5; cp. Romans 5:6-7; 8:32; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 5:2; Titus 2:13-14; 1 Peter 2:21-25; 3:18).

Unbelievers may be assured Christ died as their substitute, paying the penalty for their sins, but nevertheless pay the penalty for their sins in the Lake of Fire.

Jehovah will punish sinners for their sins only once: those whose sins were punished in Christ will not be punished for them – for Jehovah is righteous.

Jehovah will punish the sins of unbelievers twice: both in Christ their substitute and in themselves in the Lake of Fire – thereby impugning Jehovah’s righteousness.

Christ’s atonement is Accomplished Atonement securing the salvation of all for whom He died (Hebrews 10:14; cp. John 19:30).

Christ’s atonement is Conditional Atonement conditioned upon sinners doing something to make it effectual.

Light Rising in the Darkness: Take Heart, friends...

"Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness." -Psalm 112:4 [KJV] We often get into such dark paths, that we seem altogether out of the secret, and feel as if there were no more grace in our souls, than in one altogether dead in trespasses and sins. THE GREAT TRUMPET BLAST ~ The Joyful Sound!

"The great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come, who were ready to perish." -Isaiah 27:13 [KJV] One trumpet has been blown, at the giving of the law, on mount Sinai: the voice of it sounded long, and waxed louder and louder. It made even Moses to fear and quake exceedingly, and all the people tremble. Soon, very soon, (who knows but it may be the next moment, in the twinkling of an eye?) the last trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised (I Corinthians 15:52.)   Tremendous voice! most solemn sound! The prophet asks, “Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?” (Amos. 3:6.)
