The Love of Christ is the Love of Truth
It is very common among many who claim to believe and rest in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation but who ignore, compromise, even
deny and hate the doctrines that identify, distinguish, honor, and glorify Christ.
The doctrine of Christ consists of the truths that set Him apart from all counterfeits in the glory of His Person as God manifests in the flesh and in the power and efficacy of His
substitutionary work of obedience unto death as the Surety, Substitute, Redeemer, Intercessor, and Preserver of God’s chosen people given to Him before the world began.
These truths are used by the Holy Spirit from the inerrant Word of God (the Bible), and specifically in the true Gospel of salvation by God’s grace in and by the Lord Jesus Christ and based upon the merits of His blood, His righteousness imputed for salvation, to assure all who truly believe in Christ that we are trusting in Him alone and not in a counterfeit.
Hereby we know that we have a solid and firm foundation for our faith. The fact is this – If we truly believe in and love Christ, we believe and love His doctrine! Faith and love are both gifts from God! Those who are deceived in a false profession of faith and love are deceived in that “they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (II Thessalonians 2:10).
God’s Word is His truth as it is in Christ Jesus; His truth is His doctrine that He teaches His people so as to draw them away from counterfeits and lovingly and graciously drive them to the true Christ for all salvation (John 6:37-45). The love of Christ is the love of His truth revealed in His doctrine.
