REDEEMING THE TIME...

What sacred Fountain yonder springs

Up from the Throne of God

And all new covenant blessings bring?

’Tis Jesus’ precious blood.

What mighty sum paid all my debt

When I a bondman stood

And has my soul at freedom set?

’Tis Jesus’ precious blood.

What stream is that which sweeps away

My sins just like a flood

Nor lets one guilty blemish stay?

’Tis Jesus’ precious blood.

What voice is that which speaks for me

In Heaven’s high court for good

And from the curse has set me free?

’Tis Jesus’ precious blood.

“Redeeming the time,

because the days are evil.”

-Ephesians 5:16 [KJV]

The New Year does not change the moral climate around us.  The days are still evil.  Sin is still aggressive.  Evil days are much like their father Satan.  They do not shout, “Waste your life.”  They whisper, “Later.”  Later is how time is lost.  We must not lose time; we must redeem it.  That means knowing God’s will.  Paul goes on to say, “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is” (vs. 17).  Life is brief, eternity is real, and every sinner without Christ will perish.

So, what is the will of the Lord?  The Lord Jesus, at the young age of twelve years old, went missing and was found in the temple.  He was asked by His mother, “Why hast Thou thus dealt with us?  Behold, Thy father and I have sought Thee sorrowing.  And He said unto them, How is it that ye sought Me?  wist ye not that I must be about My Father’s business?” (Luke 2:48-49.)  Beloved, we redeem the time and understand the will of the Lord in, by and through Divine revelation, and when we do, we will always be about our Father’s business!  Redeeming lost time is never passive, casual or optional.  .…“Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.…” -Hebrews 3:7-8
