Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 26 April, 2026 A.D.

I bless the Christ of God, I rest on love Divine

And with unfaltering lips and heart, I call the Saviour mine

His cross dispels each doubt, I bury in His tomb

Each thought of unbelief and fear, each lingering shade of gloom.

I praise the God of peace, I trust His truth and might

He calls me His, I call Him mine, My God, my Joy, my Light

In Him is only good, in me is only ill

My ill but draws His goodness forth, and me He loveth still.

‘Tis He Who saveth me, and freely pardon gives

I love because He loveth me, I live because He lives

My life with Him is hid, my death has passed away

My clouds have melted into light, my midnight into day.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondered the hearts.” -Proverbs 21:2 [KJV]

One of the many accomplishments of the death of Christ was reconciliation.  He restored us to love, rather than enmity toward God.  God had never stopped loving us, but we stopped loving Him.  That is what took place when Adam fell.  He no longer loved God.  We were born with this enmity toward God.   But the death of Christ brought complete reconciliation and restoration to our former state.

The elect are eternally in Christ.  When Christ reconciled us to God by His death (Romans 5:9), we were not brought back to Adam’s state of innocence before the fall.  But much better than that!  We are brought into the eternal state of the “many brethren” of which He is the first born (Romans 8:29).  A state that we have had eternally in the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  A state we cannot fall or be separated from!
