There is But One Savior

 THERE IS BUT ONE SAVIOR

 

If you look to your repentance and faith for acceptance with God, you will die in your sins.  I hope that statement grabs your attention.  Men tend to run to repentance or faith as the foundation and assurance for their salvation, instead of fleeing to Christ Himself.  They look to what they have done, felt and experienced, rather than looking to the Lord of glory.  


This is a fatal mistake.  To be sure, I would never minimize the importance of true repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  How merciful of the Lord that He grants us repentance to turn from our idols and dead works and gives us faith to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ as our Prophet, Priest and King.  


Still, neither repentance nor faith are saviors.  There is but ONE SAVIOR from sin and His name is Jesus Christ.  He is the only Mediator between a holy God and sinful men.  He Alone bore the sins of His people and endured the wrath of God in their stead.  Christ satisfied offended justice by His substitutionary sacrifice.  


Full and free salvation is to be found in Him.  When conscious of and troubled by guilt and sin, I must not retreat to my experience, or my repentance and faith for comfort and assurance, but to the blessed Redeemer Himself.  


My refuge and hope is not in what I have done or experienced; my refuge and hope is that Person Whose name is Jesus Christ and what He has done for undeserving sinners like me.

JESUS - Rock of Ages

Jesus remains the same in all ages. He is the One who is constant when everything and everyone else fails. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever; the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He is our R ock [I SAMUEL 2:2 ] . In the Old Testament, in Exodus 33, Jesus is pictured as the Cleft Rock. In that chapter, verse 18 and following, Moses desired to see the glory of the Lord, but was told, "You cannot see My face; for there shall no man see My face and live.” And the Lord said, “There is a place by Me, and you shalt stand upon a rock: and it shall come to pass, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by." GLORY ALONE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
