WAITING UPON THE LORD!
“And
the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men,
apt to teach, patient, in
meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God
peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the
truth; and
that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who
are taken captive by him at his will.” -II
TIMOTHY 2:24-26
[KJV]
I
am content to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to any and all who
come and listen. I do not feel the need to pressure them into some
kind of profession or decision, I am glad they come to listen because
“faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God”
[ROMANS
10:17]. I can
teach them what God says in His word but they must be “taught of
God.” When they are taught of God, when they have learned of
the Father, they will acknowledge the truth of God in Christ and
believe on Him.
Until
then, they are bound captives of the devil and I am unable to free
them. But there is One who can! When the Spirit of God comes in power
to them they will be liberated by the truth He reveals to and in
them. They will be born from above spiritually. Man cannot “induce
labor” in the new birth. We must wait upon the Lord and pray that
He will work in our midst.
Everything
in His salvation depends on HIM! Salvation is of the LORD!
When the sovereign Spirit like the wind blows in our midst,
spiritually dead dry bones raise to life in our midst and dead
sinners are raised to life and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Without striving, without debate, without pressure and without the
gimmicks of modern day religion God’s elect are brought to
Christ, they must be.
Why?
Because God has purposed it and He will do it. Because Christ
has died for them, satisfying God’s justice for them in the matter
of their sin and the Spirit cannot fail... GOD
WILL GET ALL
THE GLORY IN THE SAVING OF HIS PEOPLE. If He sends the gospel
to a place, He most likely has some people there. So we preach and
pray and wait upon the Lord. But we do not wait in vain! “And
therefore will the LORD
wait, that He may be gracious unto you,
and therefore will He be exalted, that He
may have mercy upon you: for the LORD
is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him”
[ISAIAH 30:18].
