"He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied." -Isaiah 53:11 [KJV] Is not this covenant promise of thy faithful God and Father peculiarly suited, my soul, for thine evening meditation, after the subject of the morning, in contemplating the first cry of Jesus upon the cross: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do?" And was not the cry answered in the case of the Jerusalem sinners at the day of Pentecost, soon after, when, under the apostle Peter's sermon, they were pricked to the heart, and cried out, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Acts 2:37.   Ponder over the solemn expression, the travail of the Redeemer's soul. Did Jesus really sustain in soul somewhat like those throes of nature with which a woman is exercised in her hour of extremity? "I will be as the dew unto Israel."   - Hosea 14:5 [KJV] Sometimes the Lord, without applying His word with any very great and distinguishing power to the heart, makes  His truth to drop  with a measure of sweetness into the soul. This is as rain or dew, according to His own gracious declaration, "My doctrine shall drop as the rain; My speech shall distil as the dew" (Deuteronomy 32:2). The dropping, then, of His doctrine, or, as the word means, His "teaching," as rain, and the distilling of His gracious speech as dew, kindle in the soul a love of the truth, and wherever this is felt there is salvation, for we read of those who perish that "they received not the love of the truth that they might be saved" (II Thessalonians 2:10).   There is a receiving of the truth, and a receiving of the love of the truth. The Bringer of Salvation by D.G. Miles McKee.   See Titus 2:11 regarding the Grace of God that brings Salvation .  In Titus 2:11 we see that grace, not Law, brings salvation.  I love the word “brings” in this verse.  God did not merely send salvation, He brought it.   He didn't entrust the bringing of salvation to anyone other than Himself.  He by-passed the angels and archangels refusing to use them as His messengers in this matter.  I think I see Him talking to Gabriel and saying, “Gabriel, you are a trustworthy servant, both faithful and true, but I cannot send salvation with you.  Furthermore, faithful as they are, I must also bypass the seraphim and cherubim and every heavenly being for I must, by Myself, bring salvation to My people.”   Consider Him, stepping out of eternity and into time and descending to earth.  He came down to rescue us.   Down, down, down He descends to fertilize the Virgin’s womb.  Down, down He...
