Last Will and Testament

"And for this cause He is the Mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth" -Hebrews 9:15-17 [KJV] Every year a list is published with the names of people who stand to inherit money, land or other possessions. However, because they cannot be located or notified, their inheritance goes unclaimed. Sometimes these people are the legal beneficiaries of vast sums of money yet many will never receive that which is rightfully theirs simply because their whereabouts is unknown. The Lord Jesus Christ, in old eternity, wrote His last will and testament, and it is called the Covenant of Grace. In that legal, binding agree...

JESUS, our Mediator, Redeemer and exalted triumphant Savior!

"The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry." - Psalm 34:15 [KJV] My soul, never more allow thyself to suppose that thou art overlooked or forgotten amidst the immensity of God's works. Is it not the province of a father to attend to the wants of his children? And will not God regard His own, that cry night and day unto Him, though He bear long with them? This was the very argument of our Redeemer. Do you, saith Jesus, "that are evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children; and shall not your heavenly Father give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?" But, my soul, while thou art taking comfort from this view of divine love, take with thee another sweet thought from this precious verse of scripture.     Whose eyes are thus upon thee, and whose ears are thus open to thy cries, but those of the Lord Jesus? Oh how sweet the thought, that by reason of the Son of God, as Christ, being in our nature, and He having taken...

GOOD NEWS!

Weekend Gospel message to follow for All Hands   (25-27JUN21) Heads-Up --- Please find enclosed encouragement in   SO GREAT SALVATION   by the perfect and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy and wretched sinners by His sovereign free grace - God's unmerited favor - from  our  sins and from Hell: “ Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength : even to Him shall men come; and all that are incensed against Him shall be ashamed.” -Isaiah 45:24 [KJV] Christ is “the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth;” (Romans 10:4) and, under deep depression of spirit, real faith will be vehemently struggling after the enjoyment of this truth, and the soul will be feelingly crying, “O to be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith!” The L...

Hail, Thou Glorious High Priest!

"And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden-censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints, upon the golden altar which was before the throne." - Revelation 8:3 [KJV]   My soul, behold this mighty Angel, even thy Jesus, in His priestly office. Look at Him with an earnest eye of faith before thou goest this morning to the mercy seat. See His golden censer, with His much incense, and contemplate both the fulness of merit in His own glorious Person, and the fulness of efficacy in His work and righteousness for the sure acceptance of all His redeemed. Go near, my soul, having boldness to enter now into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Hear thy great High Priest bidding thee to take shelter under His golden censer, and behold Him presenting thy person and thy poor offerings upon the golden altar, even His divine nature, before the throne. Yes, Lord! I would draw nigh in Thee, and by Th...

Precious Jesus

"And He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations." - Isaiah 25:7 [KJV] What a precious promise was this with which the Lord comforted the church under the old testament dispensation, that the faithful might look forward to the new testament dispensation, when Jesus, in the holy mountain, where He finished transgression by His triumphant death, would effectually remove the covering which had blackened all faces, and had separated between God and guilty sinners. And, that the gracious promise might be had in everlasting remembrance by thy people, the evangelists were commissioned to tell the church, that in the moment Christ died, the vail of the temple was rent in twain, by an invisible hand, from the top to the bottom.       My soul, see how Jesus, thy Jesus, hath most effectually fulfilled this precious promise. There was a vail of covering spread to separate thee for ever from God, had not ...

The Wednesday Word

THE GREATEST SPEECH GOD EVER MADE : Part 1 by D.G. Miles McKee Hebrews 1:1-2, “God … Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son…” History is riddled with wonderful and mighty speeches – Consider the Gettysburg address or any of the moving speeches Churchill made during the Second World War. God is also a speech maker.  He made many speeches through the ancient Hebrew prophets. Yes, He spoke by the prophets but His finest speech was made in the person of His son … the God/man … the Lord Jesus Christ.  Christ’s whole life was an articulate speech announcing to us exactly what God was like. Indeed, the greatest speech God ever made about Himself was on that day 2000 years ago when our Master was impaled on a Roman gibbet.  Unfortunately, we can become so familiar with this event that we cease to be amazed by it.  But what an astonishing speech Christ Jesus made at the cross! Isaiah the prophet had a vision of this event and was stunned. To get t...
