Justified in The Perfect Salvation of The LORD JESUS

“ And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.” -M ATTHEW 22:11-14 [KJV] The wedding garment of Scripture, particularly spoke of in Matthew 22, hath been a subject of so much anxiety to many precious souls, that the matter itself ought to be put in the clearest light possible. The general belief is, that by it is meant Christ’s person, work and righteousness. And hence the church is represented as singing, “ I will greatly rejoice in the L ORD : my soul shall be joyful in my God, for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himse...

THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION

"I will be as the dew unto Israel." -H OSEA 14:5 [KJV] Sometimes the Lord, without applying H is word with any very great and distinguishing power to the heart, makes H is truth to drop with a measure of sweetness into the soul. This is as rain or dew, according to H is own gracious declaration, "My doctrine shall drop as the rain; M y speech shall distil as the dew" [DEUTERONOMY 32:2 ] . The dropping, then, of H is doctrine, or, as the word means, H is "teaching," as rain, and the distilling of H is gracious speech as dew, kindle in the soul a love of the truth, and wherever this is felt there is salvation, for we read of those who perish that "they received not the love of the truth that they might be saved" [II THESSALONIANS 2:10 ] . There is a receiving of the truth, and a receiving of the love of the truth. These two things widely differ. To receive the truth will not necessarily save; for many receive the trut...

Waiting! COME QUICKLY LORD JESUS

“ Rest in the L ORD and wait patiently for Him.” - P SALM 37:7 [KJV] Child of God, repose your soul upon the Lord; quietly submit to His will. Rest in Him Who surrounds you with His presence. “ Wait patiently for Him , ” because time is nothing to the Lord, therefore let it be of no consequence to you. When we read a story, we wait for the end to clear up the plot. Be patient, the Lord has ordained the end from the beginning and like the hymn writer said, “In heaven’s clearer light I’ll see, all things worked out for good!” As He goes before you to lead the way so goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life. You say your troubles are mighty, but is not your Savior the Almighty God? Do not allow your heart to be agitated by difficult circumstances. Are they not meted out and controlled by your infinitely wise Lord? It is true that “ the wicked are like the troubled sea that cannot rest,” but you aren’t wicked, you are righteous in the Lord...

Merciful Gracious LORD JESUS!

"And I will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it." -R EVELATION 2:17 [KJV] In ancient times they used to decide cases by white and black stones. The judges (for they were rather judges than jury) did not give their verdict upon the prisoner by oral testimony, "guilty," or "not guilty," as in our country, but by dropping into an urn a white stone to express their opinion that the prisoner was innocent, or a black stone to declare their judgment that the prisoner was guilty. The Lord has made use of this figure. He says, "To him that overcometh I will give a white stone;" that is, I will give into his conscience a sentence of acquittal. As the white stone was dropped into the urn, so peace and pardon are dropped into the sinner's bosom; and just as the judge, when he deposited the white stone in the urn, declared thereby the prisoner's innocence; so wh...

Freedom through Christ JESUS

“ Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God .” - ROMANS 8:12-14 [KJV] Christian, stop and ponder for a moment, what a debtor you are to divine sovereignty! God could have destroyed you if He had pleased — it is entirely of His own good pleasure that you are made one of His beloved children, while others are allowed to perish. Consider, then, how much you owe to His sovereignty! If He had willed it — you would have been among the damned! If He had not willed your salvation — then all you could do would have been utterly powerless to deliver yourself from perdition! Remember how much you owe to His sovereign love, which tore His own Son from His bosom — that He might die for you! Let the Cross and bloody sweat remind you of your obligation. Co...

WHO GETS THE GLORY?

If you wish to know if the gospel you are hearing preached is the gospel of God, ask yourself this question, “Who gets the glory?” If you wish to know whether your religious experience is of the flesh or of the Lord, ask yourself the same thing, “Who gets the glory?” Also, examine all your gifts, works, and missionary efforts by the same rule, “Who gets the glory?” God will not share His glory! That which is of God, from God, and for God’s glory will be blessed with His presence and power “ that no flesh should glory in His presence. ... that, according as it is written, he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord” [I CORINTHIANS 1:29, 31 ] . -Gospel report by preacher Henry Mahan Please find enclosed link to audio Gospel sermons: https://www.sermonaudio.com/search.asp?speakeronly=true&currsection=sermonsspeaker&keyword=Henry_Mahan
