Where did God find you? He found you in “a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness.” Yes, earth with all its loveliness and beauty is a desert place, until the sinner has been found by God. There is much, it is true, to attract the eye and to gratify the sense; but fair and lovely though it be, in a moral and spiritual view it is “ a desert land .” The soul can find in it no sustenance, and no refuge in this desert. In this “ waste howling wilderness ,” he is surrounded, on every side, by dangers; and exposed to countless perils. "I am the L ORD that healeth thee." -E XODUS 15:26 [KJV] How does God heal the diseases of His people? He heals them chiefly by subduing them; for in this life they are never thoroughly healed. The promise runs: "He will subdue our iniquities" [MICAH 7:19 ] . To subdue them is to restrain their power. Thus he sees one suffering under the power of unbelief. He gives him faith: this subdues his unbelief. Here is another poor languid patient, dying of exhaustion: he gives him strength. Here is a third mourning under his corruptions: he gives a drop of His blood to purge his conscience, and a taste of His love to warm his heart. “… Ch rist in you the hope of glory” -Colossians 1:27 [KJV] What is a true Christian hope? 1. A firm expectation of all promised good things as long as they give God His glory. Most especially it is the hope of salvation and happiness in heaven where we shall be completely conformed to Christ the Son of the Living God. 2. This hope is founded on the grace, blood, righteousness and intercession of Christ alone, and the earnest of the Holy Spirit, and unchangeable truth, and Almighty power of God, which always agree with the Word.   3. This hope is different than worldly hope. Its object ( Christ ) is Excellent, True, Faithful, Steadfast and Sure. The God who cannot lie will never deceive or disappoint our hopes. He does all things to prove Himself as a living hope to each of His own. Paul wrote in II TIMOTHY 1:12 - ‘I know WHOM I have believed.’ 4.
