GLORYING IN THE CROSS

" God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ." - GALATIANS 6:14 [KJV] David wrote "The heavens declare the glory of God" [PSALM 19:1 ] , but the glories of redemption vastly outshine the magnificence of creation. All of the infinite perfections of God are harmoniously featured in the substitutionary death of Christ. At the cross we behold God’s determinate purpose, His everlasting love and His inflexible justice working together to bring about the salvation of unworthy sinners to the praise of the glory of His grace. - Gospel report by preacher Jim Byrd Thirteenth Street Baptist church of Ashland, Kentucky USA Please find enclosed link to encouraging audio Gospel sermons: https://www.sermonaudio.com/source_detail.asp?sourceid=13thstbaptist

The Great and Precious Promise

"And I will be his God, and he shall be M y son." -R EVELATION 21:7 [KJV]   WHAT A PROMISE! That the God of heaven and earth will be our God, our Father, our Benefactor, our eternal, almighty Friend! and that we, in overcoming, shall receive the adoption of sons; shall be manifested as the "sons and daughters" of the Almighty, and receive the inheritance reserved for the children of God! The promise runs in connection with "him that overcometh." If we do not overcome, the promise is not for us. The promise of sonship is connected with overcoming, in the same manner as that of "inheritance" is connected with it. Do I want to receive into my heart the Spirit of adoption? Do I want to feel the love of God the Father shed abroad in my soul? Do I want to establish a blessed title to the inheritance that H e giveth to H is children? How am I to get it? How is it to be obtained? By making myself religious, becoming holy, subduing my ...

Wonderful Word of Life

To so many, the Word of God is a dead book. It is because they are dead in their sins, having the heart and mind darkened [ E PHESIANS 4:18 ] . They do not rejoice in the glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ that it reveals, because it takes eyes to see. They rest in their works and boast of their will, their faith, and their goodness, because their eyes have never been opened to see the truth of God’s sovereign will, that faith is the gift of God, and that the only good is the perfect obedience of Christ put to the sinner’s account. It is as God opens the eyes that any come to see the Gospel as LIVING. The Lord Jesus said in J OHN 6:63 - “ It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” The story is told of a young man who went into a taxidermist’s shop. He was noticing all of the dead, but life-like animals on display. He stopped in front of an owl and began criticizing the s...

True Grace

Most preachers are preaching against sin without declaring the true nature and character of God, and it just comes out as do’s and do not’s and decisions and reformations. The whole process is merely peripheral. Their message reaches only to that which they have done; and consequently, that which THEY can change. They have never seen what they are and that which NO MAN can change. Such religion breeds self-righteousness and makes converts who DO NOT NEED the full, free justifying righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Just give them a plan, a proposition, a few things to do, a few rules to follow, a few commandments to keep, and they rest very comfortably. You will hear them talking about free grace, but all the while they are thinking about what THEY have done or are doing; and this is contrary to grace! True grace brings a true knowledge of God, a true knowledge of self ( sin ), and leaves the sinner’s attention focused upon true righteousness, through the doing an...

GOD'S PEOPLE

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." -J OHN 10:27 [KJV] The Lord Jesus Christ has an eternally possessed people (sheep) given to Him in electing grace. He lovingly knows these objects of mercy and speaks to them in the Gospel. They actually hear His voice with a spiritual ear [PROVERBS 20:12 ] and obediently follow where He leads. Now to the world, this sounds unbelievable, but the believer believes the Shepherd, longs to hear His voice, and cries from the heart, "Speak Lord, for Thy servant heareth." - Gospel report by preacher Marvin Stalnaker Katy Baptist church of Fairmont, West Virginia USA Please find enclosed link to encouraging Audio Gospel Sermons: https://www.sermonaudio.com/source_detail.asp?sourceid=katy

Inheritance

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things." -R EVELATION 21:7 [KJV]   "He shall inherit all things." When? In eternity? Yes. But only in eternity? O no! In time also. There is a twofold inheritance, though one and the same; one in time, another in eternity; one the firstfruits, the other the harvest; one the earnest, the other the full sum. There is an inheriting here below, and an inheriting above; and he that never receives any portion of his inheritance below will never receive an inheritance above. Now, just in proportion as we overcome, are we put in possession of this inheritance. What are we to inherit? Riches, glory, honour, power, praise? These are worldly things; let the world enjoy them. In inheriting "all things , " we are to inherit the things of God; the favour of God, the love of God, the mercy of God, the glory of God; all that a covenant God gives in giving H imself; peace here, glory hereafter; pardon below, salvat...
