In Love

"God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." - I JOHN 4:16 [KJV] Love is communicative. This is a part of its very nature and essence. Its delight is to give, and especially to give itself; and all it wants or asks is a return. To love and to be beloved, to enjoy and to express that ardent and mutual affection by words and deeds,—this is love's delight, love's heaven. To love, and not be loved,—this is love's misery, love's hell. God is love. This is His very nature, an essential attribute of His glorious being; and as He, the infinite and eternal Jehovah, exists in a Trinity of distinct Persons, though undivided Unity of Essence, there is a mutual, ineffable love between Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. To this mutual, ineffable love of the three Persons in the sacred Godhead the Scripture abundantly testifies: "The Father loveth the Son;" "And hast loved them as T hou hast loved M e;" "...

In Christ

“ No man knoweth the Father, save the Son and he to whom the Son will reveal H im.” - MATTHEW 11:27 [KJV] Men may believe in God, but there is no way that they can know the living God except in Christ. They may know of His existence, but His essence and glory are only revealed in Christ. They may know of His works, but His will and wisdom are only seen in Christ. They may know of His power, but His purpose and decrees are only revealed in Christ. They may be acquainted with His miracles, but His mercy and grace are only received in Christ. They may behold His judgments, but His justice satisfied and honored is only revealed in Christ. If we miss a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus, we may talk of God all our lives and never really know Him. -Gospel report by preacher Henry Mahan (1926–2019 A.D.)

Sovereign Mercy Is Royal Kindness

If God is pleased to bestow saving mercy, is that not His prerogative? And is it not also His right, if He shows mercy, to bestow it upon whom He will? Mercy is not a matter of debt, but of royal kindness which God gives when and where it seems good in His sight. "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy." Though men balk at the thought of distinguishing kindness, their complaint has no merit. The King declares, "Is it not lawful for Me to do what I will with Mine own?" - Gospel report by preacher Jim Byrd

GOD’S PROMISE TO HIS NATION

There is a promise that belongs to God’s redeemed and believing people in every age and in every circumstance. It is the promise of peace. Not peace without turmoil but peace in the midst of turmoil. This world, no matter what group rules it, since they are all sinners like us, will have trouble. Greed, thirst for power and glory, the very displays of the same fallen nature that plagues us will be demonstrated by them. So our peace will not come by what they do and certainly not by fretting over the state of affairs in our nation and world. No, this promise of peace is found in Isaiah 26:3 “ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.” But as in all the promises of God there is a character described of those to whom it belongs. In this promise it is, “ him… whose mind is stayed upon Thee.” It belongs to those “ looking unto Jesus.” Those who trust in God. “ In God We Trust” is inscribed on the money of our nation b...
"God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of H is Son Jesus Christ our Lord." - I CORINTHIANS 1:9 [KJV]   Nothing distinguishes the divine religion of the saint of God, not only from the dead profanity of the openly ungodly, but from the formal lip-service of the lifeless professor, so much as communion with God. How clearly do we see this exemplified in the saints of old. Abel sought after fellowship with God when "he brought of the firstlings of his flock, and of the fat thereof," for he looked to the atoning blood of the Lamb of God. God accepted the offering, and "testified of his gifts" by manifesting his divine approbation. Here was fellowship between Abel and God. Enoch "walked with God;" but how can two walk together except they be agreed? And if agreed, they are in fellowship and communion. Abraham was "the friend of God;" "The Lord spake to Moses face to face;" David was "the ma...

The Purpose of Almighty God Shall Stand

"There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand." - PROVERBS 19:21 [KJV] Let men make their plans and set out to accomplish what their hearts intend to fulfill, only that which God has ordained will come to pass. Let men declare the great accomplishments they will achieve, they cannot change the counsel of the Lord. Let men make their determinations, yet the decree of God shall stand. Let men boast of the power of the human will, yet the sovereign purpose of God shall be accomplished. Let men foolishly speak of letting God do this or that, yet the Lord of Glory has declared, "I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it" [ISAIAH 46:11 ] . - Gospel report by preacher Jim Byrd

Bow Thy Heavens, O LORD - Come Down!

"Unto you that fear M y name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in H is wings." -M ALACHI 4:2 [KJV] Oh, what a mercy for the Church of Christ that the God and Father of the Lord Jesus has not left her as He might justly have left her, to perish in her sins, but has PROVIDED FOR HER A SAVIOUR, AND A GREAT ONE, and does from time to time encourage every poor, self-condemned sinner to hope in His mercy! The very things, poor, exercised soul, that most try your mind are the very things that make such a Saviour suitable to you. You are dark; this makes the Sun of righteousness exactly suitable to enlighten you. You are cold; this makes you want the Sun to warm you. You are cheerless and cast down; this makes you want the Sun to gladden you. You are barren and unfruitful, and lament that you cannot bring forth fruit to God's glory; you want the Sun to fertilize you. You are, at times, very dead in your feelings, and can scarcely find any i...
