Here’s the Question, Part I

by D G Miles McKee

Here’s the Question … What does it take for a believer to lose their salvation and perish?

Here’s the answers…

Reason l. For a believer to become lost and perish, Christ would have to become a liar.

Why? Jesus would become a liar because He promised that believers could never perish.  Listen to Him in John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand."

Reason 2. For a believer to become lost and perish, Christ would have to become a promise breaker. Afterall, He promised to never cast us out.  Listen to Him in John 6:37 where He says, “All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me; and him that comes to Me I will in no wise cast out.”

Reason 3. For a believer to become lost and perish, Christ would have to leave him to his own devices. But will Christ ever leave His people?  He promised He would never do that.  Listen to Him in Hebrews 13:5 where He is quoted as saying, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Reason 4. For a believer to become lost and perish, he would have to become un-chosen.  Ephesians 1:4 declares that the Lord has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world. For the believer therefore, to become lost would mean that Christ had been mistaken about His choice of him. So much for a God who knows all things!

Reason 5. For the believer to become lost and perish, they would have to become un-redeemed. But wait a minute, when we are redeemed, we are removed from the marketplace and are not for re-sale.  Not only so, 1 Peter 1:18-19 tells us,  Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, -------but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” To say that a redeemed believer can become unredeemed must mean there is no redeeming power or authority in the blood of the Lamb.

Reason 6. For the believer to become lost and perish, the Holy Spirit would have to leave him. This, however, is an impossibility since believers are sealed by the Spirit unto the day of redemption.  We discover this in Ephesians 4:30 where we are instructed not to grieve the holy Spirit of God, whereby we are sealed unto the day of redemption.  If a believer can be saved and then lost there must be no power in the Holy Spirit´s sealing ministry.

Reason 7. For a believer to become lost and perish would mean that Christ is an un-reliable spokesman for the Kingdom of God.  In John 10:28 the Lord said, And I give unto them eternal life; and they (the sheep) shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.” The Lord´s sheep will absolutely never perish. They will never come to ruin, never be lost and never be destroyed.

Reason 8. For a believer to become lost and perish, he would have to cease being a sheep. He would have to become a goat.  Matthew 25:32-33 clearly informs us there are both sheep and goats. There we read, “And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats: And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left." Here´s a simple truth---sheep don’t and cannot become goats.

Reason 9. For a believer to become lost and perish, God would have to break His promise of Philippians 1:6 which says, Being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." For someone to teach that the Lord will not complete the great work which He began is surely an awful insult.

Reason 10. For a believer to become lost and perish, he would first have to pass from life unto death. According to this theory in the beginning of his Christian life he passed from death to life and now he somehow manages to pass back from life unto death.  Neither process, however, is possible for a human being. We were saved by God (brought from death unto life) and He will not un-save us.  Ecclesiastes 3:14 clearly states, “I know that, whatsoever God does, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it...”

And that's the Gospel Truth!
