Thought for the Day ~ 25 December, 2024 A.D.

"Man, that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not." -Job 14.1, 2 [KJV]

Never a day passes in a Christian’s life when he is not presented with objects, which should make him reflect on his final exit.  No state of life is exempt from troubles from infancy to the grave.  Even the best of saints have scarcely time to dress their souls before they must put off their bodies.  Too much time is spent grasping at the shadow and therefore failing to appropriate the substance.  Human life is flattering in its beginning because it comes like a flower, but it is soon gone and leaves without returning.  Death brings the Christian into eternal rest:

"And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." -Revelation 13:14 [KJV]
