Incoming GOOD NEWS Report!
Weekend Gospel message to follow for All Hands (21-23JAN22)
Heads-Up --- Please find enclosed encouragement in SO GREAT SALVATION by the perfect and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy and wretched sinners by His sovereign free grace -God's unmerited favor- from our sins and from Hell:
IT IS FINISHED
When Christ was dying on the cross for the sins of His people, He cried out, “It is finished” (John 19:30). What was finished (brought to its full and final completion and culmination)? Consider the following: The whole will of God in regard to the salvation of the elect and the ground of redemption (Hebrews 10:7). The whole work His Father had given Him to do in saving His people from their sins (1 Timothy 1:15). The Old Covenant law and all types and ceremonies (Hebrews 10:9-14). The righteousness of God performed, perfected, and which is imputed to believers (Romans 3:19-24; Romans 10:4; II Corinthians 5:21).
The proof of the accomplishment of all that He came to do was His resurrection from the dead (Acts 17:31). Salvation and eternal life are gifts of God, not of works on our part, but through the Person and work of our Substitute, the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; II Corinthians 5:18-21). As the hymn writer wrote, "Tis finished: the great transaction's done; I am my Lord's and He is mine." Nothing need be added to His finished work. As we enter another new year of life here on earth, let us each consider how that what Christ finished for us is our beginning and our foundation for eternal life
