Incoming GOOD NEWS Report!
Weekend Gospel message to follow for All Hands (03-05DEC21)
Heads-Up --- Please find enclosed encouragement in SO GREAT SALVATION by the perfect and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy and wretched sinners by His sovereign free grace -God's unmerited favor- from our sins and from Hell:
“For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). Paul’s determination when at Corinth is and ever shall be the resolve of every God-called preacher. It is only when the gospel is clearly and simply proclaimed that God is magnified, the church is spiritually fed and sinners will be converted.
The person of Christ and His substitutionary, sacrificial, successful, saving work that satisfied God and redeemed His people was the message Paul had a determination to always proclaim. Keep in mind that this man was a highly intelligent, educated man; he had been taught by the most famous bible teacher of his day, Gamaliel.
When Paul preached, however, his purpose was not to set before his hearers wisdom or his vast knowledge of a variety of subjects. He did not seek to set forth or magnify himself. The Corinthians knew firsthand that Paul’s preaching was not to attract personal followers or draw attention to himself. The subject of his messages was the gospel of the grace of God; he set forth the person, cross-death, resurrection and exaltation of Christ.
