Teach us, O Lord Jesus!



"Take heed what ye hear" ­ MARK 4:24 [KJV]

"Take heed how ye hear" ­ LUKE 8:18 [KJV]


Hearing is a critical part of the Gospel scheme. "How shall they believe on Him whom they have not heard?" "Faith cometh by hearing." Why the Gospel itself is called in Galatians 3:2-5, "The hearing of faith." Is it any wonder the Saviour said, "Take heed what ye hear," and "Take heed how ye hear." What has to do with the content of that which is heard. How has to do with the manner of hearing.

I will be what I hear. If I hear error, I will be in error. If I hear the Truth, I will believe the Truth, and grow in grace and the knowledge of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God does not speak apart from the Truth. That is why we should take heed what we hear. I will only benefit by what I hear by the manner in which I hear. That is why I am to take heed how I hear. If I hear with a dull and sleepy ear; if I hear with a critical ear; if I hear without a desire to be fed, I will not benefit! What a needful two-edged warning.

Take heed what you hear and take heed how you hear.

God ordained Authority: Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate

The Lesser Magistrate Doctrine  teaches that when the superior or higher ranking civil authority makes unjust/immoral law, policy, or court opinion – the lower or lesser ranking civil authority has both the God-given right  and duty  to refuse obedience to that superior authority; and if necessary, actively resist the superior authority. The doctrine was first formalized by Christian men in Magdeburg, Germany in 1550.  The lesser magistrate doctrine is rooted in the historic Christian doctrine of interposition.  Interposition   is where one steps into the gap – placing themselves in between the oppressor and his intended victim. Interposition can take place verbally or physically.  The law of God is the objective standard to which all men and all governments of men are accountable.
