Zeal for the Glory of God
"When
Christ chased the money changers from the temple, John records, “And
His disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of Thine house
hath eaten Me up” (JOHN
2:17). Christ’s holy anger and zeal over what was going on
in the temple was born out of relationship. It was His Father’s
house! He could not bare what was being done there. Likewise, all who
are in spiritual relationship with the same Father in Christ, they
cannot bear to sit in a godless place of false religion and listen to
a man blaspheme God, deny His word and gospel, reduce Christ to a
pathetic failure in His Person and work and glorify the will, works
and worth of fallen sinners. If one can listen and endure such a
mockery of God and His Son, there must not be a relationship with
them. If we have received grace and salvation from God in Christ, our
zeal for the glory of God our Father will surely keep us from
participating in that which mocks Him!"
