Jesus Came and Bore Our Guilt

Before creation came to be,
Or sun’s first rays had shined;
The destinies of all mankind
Were by God’s will assigned.

He chose a people for Himself,
And willed that they would be;
Saved by His free and sovereign grace,
The Lord’s own family.

Entrusted to the Son were all
The Father chose in love;
And to redeem them from the fall,
He came from heav’n above.

The work appointed for our Lord,
To save His chosen bride;
The Son of God came forth to do,
His name be glorified!

All we like sheep had gone astray
And turned to our own way;
How infinite the debt we owed,
A debt we could not pay.

But Jesus came and paid it all,
He died sin to atone;
No blood or righteousness could save,
But that of His alone.

The mighty Spirit of the Lord,
Whose grace we do extol;
He draws us unto Jesus Christ
Who makes our spirits whole.

Now in the Lord we make our boast,
Christ is our hope and plea;
E’er long we all shall dwell with Him,
Throughout eternity.

=========================

Would you seek to grow in the grace of loving others? Study the love of Christ for His people. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Do you want to be a more generous person? Dwell upon the generosity of Christ. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9).

Do you have a desire to be more forgiving? The perfect model is Christ the Lord. Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).

Do you seek to be more obedient to the will of God? Turn to Christ and hear Him say, I seek not Mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent Me” (John 5:30).

All you need to know regarding how to live in this sinful world in such a way as to be honoring to the Father will be learned as you look to and dwell upon our blessed Savior. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps (1 Peter 3:21). I maintain that all the knowledge we require about the believer’s proper conduct we will acquire by observing our Savior who lived solely for the glory of the Father.
