Impossible
It
is impossible to preach...
1.
That a man is both totally and partially depraved,
2.
That election is both unconditional and conditional,
3.
That regenerating grace is both irresistible and resistible,
4.
That redemption is both limited and unlimited,
5.
That perseverance is both certain and uncertain.
Nor
can there be a modification of one by the other; it is impossible to
blend the two. History records such efforts in the past; but despite
the efforts, sovereign grace and free-willism will not mix, nor can
they walk together in peace, nor can those holding either system
force the other to their view.
-Gospel
report by preacher Rolfe Barnard (1904 – 1969 A.D.)
“So
then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of
God that showeth mercy” (Romans
9:16).
Jesus
said, “No man can come unto Me,
except it were given unto him of My
Father” (John
6:65).
“All
that the Father giveth Me
shall come to Me;
and him that cometh to Me
I will in no wise cast out” (John
6:37).
“For
it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His
good pleasure” (Philippians
2:13).
“God
hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through
sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth”
(II
Thessalonians 2:13).
Jesus
said, “The Son of man came not to be
ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His
life a ransom for many” (Matthew
20:28).
Again
He said in prayer to His Heavenly Father, “I
have glorified Thee
on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou
gavest Me
to do ... those that Thou
gavest Me
I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition”
(John 17:3, 12).
