THE TRUTH WILL BE TRIUMPHANT
It
is fearful to live in this world as believers in Christ when we look
around us and see the multitudes who hate the very God we love and
serve. We are made uneasy by the decline of the society around us and
the ever-growing wickedness and idolatry of the day. Looking at these
things, thinking on them, we only become more fearful. The odds are
always against us humanly speaking but that is not the case in
reality. Though we may view things as Elisha’s servant, what is
seen by the natural eye is not the reality as it wasn’t then. “And
when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth,
behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And
his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?” [II
KINGS
6:15].
Isn’t that us so often?
But
listen to what the prophet told him: “And
he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they
that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray Thee,
open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the
young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses
and chariots of fire round about Elisha”
[II KINGS
6:16-17].
No, we are to be of good courage and endure hardness as good soldiers
of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are to put on the whole armor of God and
wield the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
We
stand in this day as the children of God with the gospel of His glory
and grace in our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. We proclaim the
gospel of salvation in and only in Christ alone in the face of all
the works-mongers of the hour. We are to be valiant for the truth as
it is in Christ Jesus. We do not enter into this daily combat with
the weapons of apologetics, logic, debate or dispute. Ours is the
truth of God in Christ.
“For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to
the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”
[II
CORINTHIANS 10:4-5].
We fight the good fight of faith as those who have already been given
the victory. Christ’s victory is ours. “One
man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, He it is
that fighteth for you, as He hath promised you”
[JOSHUA
23:10].
“Watch ye,
stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong”
[I CORINTHIANS
16:13].
Christ, His truth and His people will be triumphant!
