SAVED FROM DARKNESS! Rejoice...

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son” - Colossians 1:13 [KJV] The Lord saved us from the dominion of sin, which is darkness (I John 1:6) , from the dominion of Satan, who is the “prince of darkness”   (Ephesians 6:12) , and from the damnation of hell, which is “outer darkness”   (Matthew 25:30) .  The Lord’s people are called “out of darkness”   (I Peter 2:9).                                                                                            ...

Thought for the Day ~ 17 May, 2025 A.D.

The general religion of mankind is ‘Do,’ but the religion of the Bible and of a true Christian is ‘Done.’   “ It is finished” was the Savior’s victorious declaration and the believer’s conquering word.                                                                                                             -copied        The four Gospels tell us of the heart of Christ showing His mercy and compassion for sinners and His glorio...

The Road to Christ

The best sermon is that which is full of Christ and His justice-satisfying and sin-removing Gospel.    I read a story about a young preacher who, after his sermon, foolishly asked an older minister, “What did you think of my sermon?”   The response was startling to the novice preacher.   “It was a very poor sermon because there was no gospel of Christ in it.”   The older man continued, “Don’t you know, young man, that from every town, and every village, and every little hamlet in England, wherever it may be, there is a road to London?”     The young man replied, “Yes sir, that is true.”   “Ah then,” said the older preacher, “And so from every portion of holy Scripture there is a road to the Lord Jesus Christ and His cross-death to satisfy God and save sinners.  Your business, young man, is when you get to a text of Scripture, ask, “Now, what is the road to Christ?  And then preach your message, staying on the road to t...

Sing Praises Unto our LORD JESUS Christ!

“Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me; for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day.  Remember, O L ORD , Thy tender-mercies and Thy loving kindnesses; for they have been ever of old” -Psalm 25:5-6 [KJV] -------O-------     LET US BLESS THE SON OF GOD   I was lost without a hope,  Poor and helpless, dead in sin, Separated from the Lord,  All unrighteousness within; But the Lord in sovereign grace, Purposed He would save my soul; Sent His Son my debt to pay,  Jesus washed my sins away.   Jesus came to save the lost,  Perfect sacrifice was He, He redeemed us by His blood,  Which He shed on Calvary; What a wondrous Substitute, Jesus brought in righteousness; Justice He has satisfied,  When for us the Savior died.   Let us bless the Son of God,  Worthy of all praise is He, May His Name be magnified  Throughout all eternity; Come ye ransomed of the Lord, Lift your voice and with me sing, Unto Jesus...

Bowing to Almighty God's Sovereign Grace

" What shall we then say to these things?" - Rom. 8:31 [KJV] This is a most disagreeable chapter to 'free-will' (-so called) , pride, and self-righteous spirits. For it cuts the very sinews of boasting. It lays all sinners upon a level, while it proclaims salvation by sovereign grace. A great Arminian professor was lately honest enough to own, that St. Paul does contend for the doctrines of election and the final perseverance of the saints: but was weak enough to add, “I verily believe he does it in his own spirit.”  Such was his answer to these things. But when it pleases the enlightening Spirit, to display the glorious discoveries of the Divine mind, in His eternal purposes of grace and salvation, to lost and wretched sinners, the sin-convinced soul is struck with horror and amazement, and cries out, “O the depths of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways are past finding out!” (Romans 11:...

OUR MOST PRECIOUS LORD JESUS!

"I am poor and needy, yet the Lord thinketh upon me." -Psalm 40:17 [KJV] Precious consideration, my soul! Under all thine exercises, the Lord, thy Lord, thy Jesus, thinketh upon thee . Wherefore should I faint, then, under any burden? Surely, I may say, as Hagar did at the well, "Thou, God, seest me." Surely I may give my God, my Saviour, this name, as she did; for she said, "Have I also here looked after Him that seeth me?" Yes, however unconscious my poor heart is of the blessed truth, yet a very blessed truth it is, while I am looking after Jesus, He is beforehand, thinking and looking upon me. Precious Lamb of God! I will remember my poverty no more: that is, I will remember it no more, but as it is made the means in Thy hand to make me sensible of my need and Thy fulness. Art Thou thinking upon me? Do I hear Thy gracious voice, saying to me, "I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not ...

Look at This, Believing Child of GOD

“The statutes of the L ORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the L ORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” -Psalm 19:8 [KJV] As without a revelation of the doctrine of salvation we should not know how a sinner could be saved, and thus, could not glorify God by our faith; so without a revelation of the precept we should not know how to serve God, and thus, could not glorify Him by our obedience. Look at this point, believing child of God. You long to glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are His (I Corinthians 6:20) . You desire, whether you eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, to do all to the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31) . There are times and seasons with you when you sigh and mourn over your barren, unprofitable heart and life, and earnestly long to think and speak and act to His honour and glory Who has done so much for you in providence and grace. At least, if you have no such desires you are no Christian, and are at the best but a p...
