The Holy Bible's Greatest Wonder

"The Bible is not only a great book; it is the greatest of all books. Its greatness is not necessarily found in its fulfilled prophecies, its historical accuracy, its accounts of God’s mighty acts, or its guidelines for living. These are indeed fascinating aspects of the Bible, each add its own evidence of authenticity to the “big picture” of the Bible as a whole.  The Bible’s greatest wonder is its revelation of Jesus Christ Himself, along with the work of redemption He has accomplished to save His people from sin, and provide all things necessary to bring them to eternal life and glory .   The truly remarkable facet of the Bible is that Christ crucified and risen as the righteousness of God for His people can be seen in each and every book – Old Testament as well as the New Testament. Every book, every chapter, every line holds a picture of Jesus Christ, the Savior of sinners . "   —Copied

PRAISE UNTO THE SOON COMING KING OF GLORY!

We gather this day to honor the King,   Who sits on His throne, His triumphs we sing; The Savior who died to atone for our sin,   Came forth from the tomb and He liveth again. Christ Jesus the Lord the victory has won,   He died and arose; the work is all done!   He took on Himself all our debt to repay,   The sins of His people are all washed away. To Jesus our Lord, all honor we bring,   We say unto death, “Where now is thy sting?”   Enthroned in His glory, almighty to save,   How great is His conquest o’er sin and the grave! He conquered the grave and liveth above,   All praise to His Name, all power and love;   Made righteous in Jesus we someday shall rise,   To dwell with our Savior above earth and skies.

Truth is God's Grand Instrument

"Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures." -James 1:18 [KJV] If we look at the work of the Spirit on the heart, we shall see how, in all His sacred dealings and gracious movements, He invariably employs truth as His grand instrument. Does He pierce and wound? It is by the truth; for the "sword of the Spirit is the word of God , " and that we know is "the word of truth." If He mercifully heal, if He kindly bless, it is still by means of truth; for the promise is, "Howbeit, when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth." And when He thus comes, it is as a Comforter, according to those gracious words, "But when the Comforter is come, Whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me."   In fact, if we look at the new man of grace that the blessed Spirit beget...

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 17 April, 2025 A.D.

" Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the LORD JESUS ." -Colossians 3:17 [KJV] I have sometimes thought, how is it possible that a believer in Christ can ever willingly and deliberately commit any one sin? It is hardly to be conceived, that such can live and walk under the power of sin. I am sure all sin is as contrary to the nature of a new-born soul, as heaven to hell: yet nothing is more plain, from the word of God, and the experience of His saints, than that sin dwells in them. But they are solemnly forbidden to “let sin reign in them, that they should obey it in the lusts thereof” (Romans 6:12.)   And if our souls are not striving against sin, and pressing after holiness, I know not where to find one text, in the word of God, to encourage us to believe and hope, that we are the children of God. I dread not the Satanic grin of licentious Antinomians. Does their infectious breath pronounce this legal? It only proclaims their unregenerate ...

He Died for our Sins - So JESUS arose for our Justification!

"The Lord is risen indeed." -Luke 24:34 [KJV] Let thy meditations, my soul, this morning, be sweetly exercised upon thy risen and exalted Saviour. For if thy Lord be indeed risen, then will it undeniably follow, that as He died for our sins, so He arose for our justification, and is thereby become the first fruits of them that sleep. Beg of God the Holy Ghost to lead thee into the devout contemplation and enjoyment of this soul-reviving subject. Trace the testimonies of this wonderful event, until, from being overpowered in the vast assemblage of witnesses, thou art prompted to cry out in the same language, "The Lord is risen indeed."   And surely never was there any one fact so fully, so dearly, and so circumstantially confirmed. It hath the united testimony of heaven and earth: of angels and men, of the living and the dead, of friends and foes; and God Himself confirming it in the midst of His people, by sending down the Holy Ghost agreeably to the ...

Truth from our Head into the Heart ~ The Holy Spirit's teaching

"Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me." -Psalm 25:5 [KJV] By what steps do we usually embrace the truth as it is in Jesus? First of all, for the most part, we receive it as a doctrine (- teaching ) ; the judgment being more or less informed, the eyes of the understanding being enlightened to see it in the word. The doctrine for some time may be floating in our mind; but after a time, as the Lord leads us more into a knowledge of our own hearts, and into a deeper feeling of our necessities, He lets down the truth from our head into the heart, and it then becomes a truth. It is very sweet to have a doctrine turned into a truth.  But after a time, we want something more than a truth; we want it as a blessing . When we are brought into pressing straits and severe trials, we need the doctrines which we first received into our minds as truths, now to be blessed by a divine application to our souls . Thus, what we first knew in our judgments as a doctrine, is afterwards...
