Thought for the Day ~ 25 November, 2025 A.D.

"Any time any man would shut the mouth of a preacher from preaching anything that is taught in God's Word, and that God commands to be studied and taught, he is tampering with the things of God ." -preacher G. E. Jones, ‘The Millennial Issue,' p.109   TAM'PERING , participle present tense Meddling; dealing; practicing secretly. TAM'PERING , noun The act of meddling or practicing secretly. Seeking the Face of the King of kings

"Let me see the king’s face." -II Samuel 14:32 [KJV] Beloved Absalom was now in a state of exile from his royal father. He had shed his brother Amnon’s blood. The king was enraged against him. Though he suffered Absalom to return to his house at Jerusalem, yet says he, “Let him not see my face.” Still there was love, great love in David’s heart, towards his son. Thus, O believer, thy heavenly Father may hide away His face in anger, because of thy provocations. That’s thy hell.  But His love never abates. It is always the same towards thee, from everlasting to everlasting. That’s thy heaven to know. Was it not so, hell had long since been thy portion and mine. O think of, believe in, rejoice for everlasting, unchangeable love: love, that will never be wearied out by thy sins, till it hath brought thy soul, where sin and sorrow shall be no more for ever. But, was Absalom quiet and easy, to return to his house at Jerusalem? No, amidst all his enjoyments, there w...

Wonderful Condescension

"Once have I sworn by My holiness, that I will not lie unto David." -Psalm 89:35  [KJV] Wonderful condescension! Was it not enough, that Jehovah gave His Son to poor sinners; gave His word, His promise, that all that believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life? But, as if consulting the weakness of our faith, confirmed it with an oath; pledged His holiness to Jesus, and to poor sinners in Jesus, for the sure accomplishment of all covenant engagements, in the blood and righteousness of His dear Son. Oh my soul, never, never more call in question the truth of thy gracious God. Say with Job, "Though He slay me; yet will I trust in Him." What are afflictions, trials, darkness, poverty? These are in me, and about me, but no obstructions to the efficacy of Jesus' righteousness, or the Father's faithfulness.  Read under every one of them the charter of rich sovereign grace; hear what God hath said, what God hath sworn: and believe th...

The Mysterious Dealings of Almighty GOD

"There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen." -Job 28:7 [KJV] Growth in grace is not progressive sanctification and fleshly holiness on the one hand, nor a false and delusive establishment on the other. The narrow path lies between these two extremes. On the one side is Seneh, and on the other side is Bozez (I Samuel 14:4) , Pharisaic holiness and Antinomian security; and between these two sharp rocks lies the "path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen."  From dashing on either of these rocks a living man is kept only by the mysterious dealings of God with his spirit, and the internal exercises through which he continually passes. A constant acquaintance with his own vileness preserves him from a self-righteous holiness in the flesh; a daily cross and a rankling thorn keep him from careless presumption. His path is indeed a mysterious one, full of harmonious contradictions and he...
