"Salvation is of the LORD." -Jonah 2:9

“ And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation ”   (II Corinthians 5:18.)   “ All things are of God, ” what does that mean? That means ALL THINGS are of God! It means ALL THINGS are in the power and control of His sovereign hand. It means; “ All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou ?”   (Daniel 4:35) . This is so in everything concerning creation, and this is so in everything concerning salvation.   Election was of God : “ But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth”   (II Thessalonians 2:13) .   Redemption was of God : “Forasmuch a...

Jeremiah wrote, " Great is THY faithfulness " (Lamentations 3:23) . We preach and exhort our hearers to be faithful stewards of the grace of God, faithful givers to help others, faithful in worship, prayer, and holiness. And we will be faithful by His grace and because He has given us a new heart which desires to walk with Him.  But even when we fail, fall, and make a mess of things, HE IS FAITHFUL : and our hope of life and glory is not in OUR faithfulness but in HIS faithfulness (Galatians 2:16) . God is faithful to His Son, to His covenant, and to His Word. And this was David's comfort when he lay dying. It was not in his works, service, nor even his faith, but in God's faithfulness to His covenant, “ Ordered in all things, and sure ” (II Samuel 23:5).                        -preacher Henry T.
